It is a very good anime and I would recommend watching it to anyone interested. It may begin a little slow but it's a great story and you can relate with characters. It's one of those that you have to watch twice to catch everything but it's worth watching again and again. The artwork and character designs are excellent. It's a good action/mystery/scifi/adventure type.
Ergo Proxy is enjoyable and mysterious which adds to the suspense. Some of the events may not play out how the viewer believes they should but at least the main characters aren't tragic heroes like other modern series characters. After 20+ episodes you want some semblance of a resolution and perhaps at least a semi-happy ending, not a checklist of dead cast members. Some of the later episodes get a bit ridiculous, on and off, but I feel the series overall can handle the silly diversions. The TV-MA rating is merely for the strong theme and tone of the series, not over-suggestive adult situations.
