I bought this for my daughter's Christmas present. She was thrilled, now she has all the equipment and thread she needs. She has become interested in sewing again, and was needing supplies. This was a great product for just that. Only one problem, every time you open it the small spools of thread fall off their posts.
I am learning to sew and while searching for a sewing machine here, I found out this product and decided to buy it along with the machine. With both a sewing machine and Singer Sew Essentials, I could start sewing the very day these products arrived. You might want to buy some chalk and a rotary cutter+board and ruler but this kit is ready to work with you because the spools of thread are in various colors + the pins and seam ripper work well. I will recommend it to everyone who needs a starters kit.
This sewing box is the best design ever. It is sleek and compact with a place for everything and it even comes stocked with large and small spools of thread. Terrific design. Get one while you can!
MY OLD SEWING KIT NEEDED REPLACING SO I PURCHASED THIS SINGER KIT. IT COMES ALREADY ORGANIZED FOR YOU WITH 165 PIECES & THE PRICE IS RIGHT. I WOULD RECOMMEND BUYING THIS ITEM.I'M VERY PLEASED WITH IT.
THis is a great starter kit for those that have nothing for sewing! Comes with everything you could need and then some....even the thread choices are exstensive, and good quality! My only gripe is the design of the outer storage compartments as they DO NOT click to a fixed position and seem to swing open with a fair amount of motion.
I had bought the product and i really enjoy the sewing product and it store all the things in the box so it wont be out of place. it good to take with you everywhere you go when need. I used them when my kids clothes get mess up. it work well if you know how to sew.
This kit has almost everything the occasional and even avid sewer would need. It was purchased mainly for use in mending, and is more than sufficient. The use of hard plastic for the case is poor judgement in my opinion. I'm afraid it will crack or even shatter if dropped, or is knocked off a table or counter top.
I have to agree with some of the other reviews in the fact that this is awkward to open and close. I also want to say that it is well worth it for the dollars and packs a lot of accessories in the tiny box, with space being utilized well.
This sewing kit is pretty much only good for some light mending. The accessories are cheap and flimsy. It's difficult to open and you have to re-arrange everything when you open it because everything falls out. Don't even THINK about using the thread in a sewing machine. I used it for one project and it snapped no matter what I did. I had to go back through and resew every seam after I changed thread. Save your money. You can buy better quality accessories right off the shelf for about the same price.
I thought because some prices on this same product were as high as $35 & more that it would be at least a decent sewing kit 4 a Singer name, i only paid $19 4 it! This is my 1st bad review, but i want 2 warn u this is a very cheap made product it's a very flimsy case so be careful when opening it and please don't drop it, as it's made of hard breakable plastic! The only decent thing was the thread but it doesn't say what kind it is could be cotton which is what u don't want, polyester or nylon r better, and thread usually cost around $2 a Lg. spool 4 polyester so it's probably cheap quality thread 2! Also the supplies in it r of poor quality, cheap junk basically, oh and the pin cushion was a joke, very tiny small not much bigger then a spool of thread as u can see here in my pic..! I wouldn't even recommend this 4 a kid because the case is 2 fragile and teens usually aren't that careful w/ things but the supplies would be ok 4 them 2 practice w/ I would send this back but i threw the box away, so i will make use of mine 4 mending garments not 4 sewing..!! Save ur $$ is all i can say!
