I really like this baby gate! I needed a gate for the top of my stairs that could mount to the banisters, and this fits the bill perfectly. It looks nice and matches the wood pretty well, just like in the pictures. The straps mount easily enough and I'm not worried about any scratches being left behind.
We bought this gate for the top of our stairs dual bannister mount 13 years ago. All the nieces and nephews are old enough now that we don't need it so finally took it down (first time) and pitched it. Put a little furniture polish on the bannister and you can't tell they were ever there. Used it dozens of times daily with no issues. First time users will struggle to open it though.
This gate looks great and serves the purpose at the top of our flight of stairs. It is not tricky for me to open, but some others in my family find it tricky. I'd buy it again if I need a second because it does look so pretty against the wooden spindles.
This gate is sturdy and a great height. Easy to install.
This gate looks beautiful in our home! More importantly, it's very sturdy, and we have great peace of mind with our little baby tornado! Instillation was a breeze and I put it up during a short nap time!
Perfect for stairs with balusters - no screws needed
I love this gate, the way it looks is great. I did hardware install instead of the straps because the straps didnt work as well as I had hoped. However the one major flaw on this gate, and it may not apply to everyone's situation, the gate is able to open towards you and away from you. So therefore the gate can open over the steps.
This gate is great if you have straight walls and studs. We didn't have either. Luckily my husband is handy. The handle works great one handed. The stopper on the bottom is a wonderful idea. Overall once installed and level the gate does its job.
I'm disappointed that the banister attachment pieces have changed, and is not the one advertised or in the picture online. The straps are no longer brown nylon; it is a white thick plastic ziptie. Also, the piece that connects the rail to a round banister now required you to drill into the banister. I have an older model of this same gate and love it for the nylon straps and no need for drilling, which means no damage to my banister rails! I am disappointed with the changes and probably wouldn't have purchased if I knew the attachment kit had changed so much.
Liked that the color matched our ancient oak stair railings pretty well. Disliked that the wood started breaking after 5 months where the top hardware screws in. It was like an inexperienced carpenter tried to drill too big a screw in and split it right down the middle. The gate also seemed to hang, as if not well structured right away. Ex: you must lift the gate twice as high as you should have to to latch it. The adjusters for the banister straps also broke after approx 3 years. Whatever happened to getting what you pay for? If I purchase a baby gate twice the price (easily) of others, I expect that what I'm investing in has been well built. That's simply not the case here.
