OKAY. I know what your thinking... “what a piece of junk” NO! This gate is fantastic, absolutely EASY to assemble. When you get to the end and it appears crooked, ALL YOU NEED TO DUE IS; tighten the plastic bolts to the tension rods using the little metal wrench that was given to you! “Oh that's what that's used for!” The tighter you tighten those, you'll start to see the gate align! Absolutely love it
we bought this at walmart and were skeptical because of all the negative reviews but we are pleased with the purchase easy to install. and looks great keeps our large dogs in a separate area of the house when needed. also our small grandchildren from wandering all over the house we really like it.
We needed something quick to keep the dogs from entering the kitchen while we were doing renovations throughout the house. I was starting to get fustrated with the gate b/c it was not lining up correctly at first. I had to read someone elseâs review to understand that it was going to be uneven until we actually were mouting it to the wall and then they would align correctly. Overall I am very pleased and it was quick to put together.
This is the nicest gate I've owned. When you're putting it together the gate will not align and or close. DONT FREAK OUT THOUGH! The moment you start securing it to the wall, and start using the wrench supplied to adjust it. The gate alignes beautifully and is impossible to move at all unless lossened to move. The swing door is my favorite part it locks into place when pushed out to a certain extent. Awesome feature for use on stairs when hauling stuff up and down like laundry and or when not needing to be closed. It also closes itself and latches after walking through. Seriously buy this and FOLLOW the instructions. You will not regret it!
It looks nice and fits in the doorway tight. I can understand other reviewers frustration. I had to force the lower bar to snap in tight to get the screws in. No big deal, that is the way it was designed (tight fit). Not lining up at the top for the gate to close was also by design. Once it is put together and in place in the doorway, the expansion adjustments will pull the gate into place to line up with gate. For people that are unaware of the large gap and how to fix it, the manufacture should explain that it is supposed to be that way and how to fix it.
Purchased this gate recently for our stairway. During assembly my husband immediately wanted to put it back in the box and return it because the gate appeared defective. After reading reviews, I convinced him to continue and put in place. It did align and lock into place wonderfully once installed! Give this gate a chance and install it. It looks great and it works well!
I am so thankful for the reviewer that advised the door will tighten when you install and add the stoppers. This is the most difficult part. Tightening just right so that the door isn't too tight or too loose that it causes a gap in the door. After getting it just right this is the best gate ever. Summer should definitely add this to the instruction book. Those of us who are beginners assume the door is gaping open due to manufacturing measurements being off.
LOL wow. $62 for this junk. Get something else. The holes don't line up correctly, the screws are cheaply mad. Good luck putting the binding bolts all the way in the binding posts. This should take less than 15mn to put together but you will grow white hairs by the time you are done. Oh and get you some better nails or bolts for the bottom part of the gate. See added picture. If I could give 0 stars I would. Now onto putting together the second and third ones I bought.
Just drove 22 miles to walmart to purchase specifically this item in a snow storm and the welded brackets are not square what so ever. Looks like it was fitted and welded by the cross eyed Mr.Deeds guy. Not to mention the wood cap at the bottom of the gate was not seated properly in the joint and had very sharp edges! Pictures provided show a 1" difference in overall width from the top of the gate, and then the bottom. Very VERY disappointed for a $70 gate...
I wish I would've seen these reviews before I paid $60+ for this piece of junk. If I could give negative stars, I would. It's pretty, but not worth the hassle, and the metal is warped. Screw holes don't line up. The bottom of the door will NOT adjust so the piece that holds the bottom in place will hold it in place. It doesn't even come close. Very very disappointed with this gate. Trust us 1 star reviewers, go for a different gate.
