I love that these are perfect for th garage windows to seal them for winter times so the cold air doesn't come in and the warm air stays on. They are super easy to assemble and put on the window and they do work great as they save money by reducing your energy bill for heating and cooling. We live in a very old home, and since purchasing our house, we have slowly replaced windows as our budget allows. We have windows in the kitchen that we cover with the Duck window kit each year, although the way the windows are created (in a corner), I have to use extra tape in a way not called for. The double-sided roll included in the Duck Max Strength kit actually sticks to the finished window panels and the bare wall behind! I definitely will use this again next winter. Every winter we struggle to keep the heat in. We turn up the heat even more fighting the battle with these windows having air leaks. Sometimes you can feel a good breeze of cold air coming in! So that means it is costing me much more on my heating bill!! Had enough!! It was time to cover the windows with plastic. It is something my parents did as I was growing up. I remember them using strips of cardboard and a staple gun. But that left little holes in the wood around the window. After a few years, it was really damaging the wood and soon enough it would not hold all winter! Trying to repair the wood would be costly especially if you did not know how to do it and had to hire someone! The Duck Brand uses double sided tape! What!! No staples!?! I was sold on that fact alone! We measured the window and cut the plastic. A little tip, instead of using a traditional measuring tape, use a clothing one. It is able to bend and move. That makes it easier to measure the plastic since it bends and moves like fabric does. So after cutting the plastic to size. Make sure you leave a little extra over each edge of the window. I did about an inch and a half over each side. I also overlapped the tape on the corners to ensure an air tight fit and coverage. Just make sure you peel back about an inch of the one that is already there before putting the other one on top. (hope that made sense) Get all of your tape placed on but don't peel all of the paper off. Just do one side at a time. Otherwise the plastic will stick to all the tape when you are trying to place. I start at the top, then the sides and bottom last. Last part is the hair dryer! This is my favorite part too! LOL! There is just something about watching the plastic shrink and the wrinkles all disappear that is so mesmerizing! Don't go too fast or it will not have time for the heat to shrink. Do not go too slow or the heat will melt a hole in the plastic. NEVER touch the hair dryer to the plastic!! It will melt right onto your hair dryer, possibly ruining your hair dryer!! This process takes about 2-3 minutes. After it is all smooth, you're done! Now I can enjoy a warmer home and save more money on my heating bill!! Whoo Hoo!!! I love this insulating plastic! It was easy to put up and only took less then 5 minutes. I have a toddler running wild banging on windows in our house and this plastic despite my wild toddler is holding up! Since placing this plastic up our rooms are much warmer and we dont have that cold draft flowing through our rooms from our windows at night! When I recieved the Duck Brand Heavy Duty Window Installation Kit, I thought it would have to be layered multiple times because I'm use to the super thick plastic but I WAS WRONG! It actually works better because this kit has double sided tape that attaches to the frame and plastic. So, It actually has a way better seal than if I were to apply with the other plastic and staple it. The Duck Brand Plastic in this kit also calls for a blow dryer (BONUS). When applying heat to the plastic, it shrink fits the window. So you not only get a good quality brand and kit itself but you also get a tight seal with using this kit. Also, It dod not take long at all to install. The double sided tape allows for a no struggle installation and you can do it all by yourself. I would highly recommend this kit. We put this in my daughters room, we have a bi-level and her room is colder then ours. I liked that the film is nice and durable (we have tried another brand and it was super thin). We used this heavy duty window kit to insulate our windows during the winter time. I have to say that the film itself is fabulous. This is my second set of max window applications. The first set was great. This last set isn't clear. A white residue is in the plastic and the window looks dirty. I keep my windows super clean. They are front facing windows that are large. I don't understand and I'm disappointed. This type of insulation is fantastic and saves me a lot of energy and money. But I don't like sitting in my living room and looking out what appears to be a streaky dirty window. I have three of these windows in my living room.
