I actually used these to outline my fron walkway as you really need the flat surface to get the best reflection of the picture. The dragonflysd are adorable and they even made it through a huge huge rainstorm. I am going to buy another set if that tells you anything. Please know that they arent as big as you might think so pay attention to the size.
These are very nice and not as gimmicky as I thought they might be. Used as recommended they are uneventful, but if you hang them on a string or something that will let them swivel in the wind they have movement. They work well hanging near a garden flag or a flat surface that has some movement. This allows the projected image to change shape and size. They are not that bright so the darker the area the better. It seems that they would also look good inside a Chinese paper latern or a lamp shage.
I was hesitant about purchasing this due to the mix of reviews. But the negative reveiews proved to be wrong. There were some complaints about it rusting, it's metal if you leave it outside in the rain and dew it will rust. So I coated it with some clear spray on enamel by krylon inside and out (covered the solar panel first so there would be no damage to it). No problem with rust. All the lights did not work the first night, but they have worked perfect since, I can only assume the two that did not work were just not charged enough from the sun. They look absolutely gorgeous and they come with small sheperds hooks. All and all a great product infact I was so impressed with how bright they are I am ordering two more sets. Now they do not light up a walk way, they are only a four inch square,but they are very pretty.
This is the greatest garden lighting accessory you could have. The dragon fly projection shows on the ground and a few feet around the light. Just bright enough to accent your plants and garden area. I do not recommend this for walk way lighting. The prongs that stick into the ground are a little on the brittle side, so, having people walk and possibly trip over these lights might break the rods. However, in a garden where there is little foot traffic, they are safe and sound. Very good product minus the breakable rods.
I am so pleased with the unique lighting effect that my new set of luminary dragonfly solar lights cast. The lights illuminate from below and all four sides of the lamp. The visual effect is very defined and draws the eye. My order is in for 2 additional sets!
The is a PRECIOUS set and really gives off a great strong glow. The only tricky part was putting it togheter. The instructions are clear but the components were very "tight" and needed a little tapping, shoving, and almost banging to get them in place. Installing the batteries should have been easier, but once done the light is lovely. It's mass made and the "guts" are a bit slopy, but since you don't see that from the outside I feel you do get more than you pay for. Purchased as a Christmas gift (that I helped put together) but I will probably get a set for myself soon :)
Ok. These things are not the most sturdy items on the planet. They are cute and the light from the single LED is adequate to cast the image well enough. The kit came with 4 sturdy walkway hangers that I was not expecting. The sheet metal is very thin and lightly painted so rust may be a problem. In fact, there was a little rust in the packing material. Here is the biggest problem. Two of the four units did not work out of the box. The batteries are not too tricky to install as others have indicated but the batteries have to be put in "just so" or they will not charge. I got three out of the four working but the last one never did work. Even with the one non-working unit I am keeping these. They are pretty cool at night. Just wish the quality was a little better. If all four units were woring I would rate it Excellent.
These little square 'dragon fly' solar lights are nice enough, but they are far from wonderful. The glow they emit is hardly noticeable and the spikes are so short and close to the ground, that when it rains, the lamps get covered with mud and are unsightly. What's worse is that one of the spikes would not screw in at all (it arrived 'stripped'), and another simply broke while screwing it in. Now I have two extremely short, almost-in-the-dirt lamps that fail to illuminate ... If you buy these, you really have to buy more than one set, and line them up less than one foot apart---it's the only way you'll get the luminous look you want. And, you'll have to keep them clean all the time.
It rusted along the bottom the 1st time it rained on it. I like the light it puts out but was disappointed that it wasn't rustproof as it was for the outdoors
altho these are really pretty and when they do stay lit they are nice, the batteries might last an hour at nite, when they work at all!! wouldnt recommend these.
