So far it works just fine
I have used this rain gauge for some time now and find it to be very useful. Pros-- Works best when mounted less that 50' away in an open area, #but longer distances are possible.# Digital readout is easy to read and understand. Resets quickly# The "24 HR" function is a rolling function #ie. 9:15am Tue to 9:15am Wed# "Total" function will add all rainfall amounts until reset by owner. Batteries last a long time #1-3 years#. #Should be removed over long winters# Easy installation Very accurate. #mine is +- 1/10 inch# Cons--- Outside sending unit should not be left outside in winter. #Below freezing temperatures#. MUST be mounted on level surface. "Rocker" cups inside the sending unit need to be cleaned once per year. #takes 5-10 min#. The plastic ears of the sending unit can be broken if hit. #Baseballs, basketballs, etc.#
Works pretty good, got stuck after initial installation but was cleared with a few drops of water to get it moving. This gauge does not keep a 24 hour record from say midnight to midnight, but a rolling 24 hour count from the end of the last recorded rainfall, hence the entry level summary.
Connection issues would work initially for a day then no matter what I did it would not work
Insufficient instructions to respond to anything but perfect performance. Contradictory instructions from package materials to tech support. Very courteous tech support, by the way. Regardless, my unit is defective and simply will not work. I'm extremely disappointed.
