Basically this installed as it was supposed to without any major drama. had to do a bit of fiddling but nothing major. overall i was quite impressed with the build quality and they way it all went together. a couple of minor quibbles: 1 the coating does mark very easily so best to lay the kit on a sheet or blanket when you are working on the assembly. this is recommended in the instructions and is worthwhile doing. 2 the latch is a bit fiddly and takes a few attempts to get it to grab sometimes. i'm going to look at doing a mod to improve this. it's not a huge problem but could be done better.
The anti-slam open feature works smoothly. We like the easy to operate and strong latching lock feature better than the magnet latch we had before. The screen is nicely reinforced across the top and the bottom. We had an oddball door frame and ended up having to add some custom filler trim to get it to fit properly, but it ended up looking very nice. I found the hardware quality to be better than that of a couple of the much more expensive "have to be installed by professionals" doors that we saw and were quoted on.
We're looking forward to cooler weather so we can open up our front doors, close the screen doors, and let the breeze flow through. It took about four hours to install because we needed an extra piece of trim to put around our doors, but they're working perfectly. We'd definitely recommend them.
This product is perfect for the back patio. Walmart had the best price and the delivery only took a few days. Received all parts unbroken. Installation took an hour...
My main criticism is the length of time required for installation. I see no way the door can be installed in 30 min. unless you install them on a continual basis. My other criticism is the poor grade of screen material. The frame is satisfactory and ridged enough but the poor screen detracts from the quality.
Very happy with our new screen door. It said it in the instructions that installation would be approximately 30 min. but it took a bit longer due to the fact I had to make some cuts to fit my door. Great product for the price.
I was glad to discover that this actually would fit our doors. I was concerned because we were mounting on the inside and the opening is less than the 80" due to the inside sill plate. It did manage to fit perfectly because it fits outside the trim and sits at the low end of the sill plate. I could not determine the way it fits from the installation instructions online. Installation was tricky because the instructions did not show very clearly how the pieces were to fit together. More words and more descriptive pictures are needed. You can figure it out after spending about 15-20 minutes of playing around with it, if you are mechanically inclined. I also found that the top lock bolt was still out too much to clear the trim completely and was scraping on it. I had to drill a new hole further down and position the bolt lower to have it fit properly. I also had to drill a hole in the wood trim to have a place for the bolt to lock into. The screws I had to drill into the new sill plate (on top of the old sill plate) go through the plastic adjustable end pieces and cause the plastic to warp so that does not look good. If you back out the screw, the plastic is already permanently warped. The instructions should suggest that the position of those screws should be in the aluminum but just before the plastic to keep it in place without drilling through it. Beware that the screen is very light as others mentioned. We do not have pets but I imagine if you have pets or small children, it will likely get wrecked.
Went together nicely. Did have to fur out the trim. Just added 1/2 x 3/4 the length of door on both sides. That added some time but still complete in under an hour. Works very nicely.
This door has only been installed for 2 weeks and the screen is out of the bottom track from my 2 small cats leaning against it! FURIOUS!
High quality, good customer support and looks nice when installed, We had an Andersen 5' In Swing Frenchwood door.Because the Brisa is sized for a 6' door we had to cut the horizontal rails to match. The instructions in the package contradict the new video from the manufacturer: Use the printed instructions. People should know that the screens are not connected to the tracks on the top and bottom and merely slide in the tracks. Therefore, I would not recommend this type door in a location that will be used frequently by children because they will quickly pull the screens out of the track We also had to trim ours out on all four sides. I used Azek trim because it will never require painting.
