I have been using both the Gloss and Satin versions of the Krylon Acrylic spray for over fours years now, on all my woodworking projects. Both exceeded my expectations and deliver exactly what you would expect - the Gloss yields a very nice gloss finish and the Satin yields a smooth satin finish. You can apply several coats in a short period of time and wrap up the final clearcoats on your own projects in less than a day. Another reviewer reported she couldn't get a glossy finish - that is a mystery. All I can think of is the surface wasn't prepared properly or there was some other "pilot error" issue. I cannot understand how anyone could not acheive the same excellent results I do.
I used this on my painted wood outdoor décor worked great! No runs and didn't harm the acrylic paint. Hoping its as water proof as they say.
I have been using this stuff a long time for clear coating my cheap jewelry to keep it from tarnishing , discoloring and turning my skin green. simply hang the jewelry from a tree branch, cover any major stones with masking or painters tape and spray a very thin coat, let dry and then put another thing second coat on. comes out of this cannon a very fine mist that works at different angles so this stuff is amazing. I don't know why all the negative reviews because this has never turn my jewelry white. they must've been spraying it on super thick or something
I also had an issue when applying this product. It was a difficult and time consuming ordeal to get my project to its final stage because the clear coat reacted to an automotive clear coat that was previously sprayed and underneath. When I sanded down to the automotive surface and broke through its "surface" there was a reaction that caused the color master to warp and fish eye. However, areas where the automotive coat were undisturbed turned out excellent. I wish there was something that stated that the product not could but would react with certain under coatings and that it is best to be used on raw material and certain kinds of paint because I would have saved some money, materials and a whole lot of time and would have just stuck with the automotive clear coat or I would have sanded back down all the way to wood. No stain, no paint.... all hardwood with 2 layers of automotive under coating for durability. Overall, this product leaves a desirable finish and I will buy it again because I like the product I will just be more cautious next time and test it in an area I can mesh up next time before spraying the whole project.
Not the same item pictured. Its possible its a rebranding they send but in case you're looking for the same can to finish a project its possible the paint mix is different. So be cautious if you ran out of this can then bought this to finish the project, as its not what is pictured
The instructions say nothing about the type of surface this can be used on except to say wood, plastic, etc. I tried to use this as a sealer over a barn quilt (a quilt square pattern on a large board backing) and though I won't go so far as to say it ruined it, it did not produce the desired results. After spraying, it dried with a layer of what appeared to be dust, which could be brushed off. We stupidly repeated the process thinking it might improve, but it did not. Each time a layer of dust appeared. I was The finish was supposed to be satin, but the result was a very matte chalky surface. Be careful what you use this on. They tell you to test somewhere before use, and that is good advice. I have never experienced this type of result with any other spray paint I have used before.
I bought this to top a coat of white paint with a protective layer and a high gloss finish. This is drying to a satin finish at BEST. I wanted a nice smooth, glossy finish and I'm getting an almost flat finish after 3 coats. Extremely disappointed. Try another product.
Made a photo block ornament. Wood block, covered with paper and then photos (prints), coated with Mod Podge, allowed to dry 2 days. Sprayed with Krylon Crystal Clear. OMGOODNESS! The pictures images appear to have melted faces,,,, ruined! What happened?
Read the instructions but it turned METAL WHITE! Ruined several metal jewelry pieces that I can't fix or replaceZ, DON'T BUY THIS - DOES NOT DO WHAT IT CLAIMS
I bought this to use on different artistic surfaces, and was sadly disappointed. While there was a shine, the finish never quite dried fully, and left my projects feeling sticky--even days later! I tried different surfaces but was met with the same results, sticky, ruined projects. This spray might work well for things like wood (maybe?), but I wouldn't recommend it for anything artsy.
