I needed a sewing machine to take to my sewing group meetings every week and this is just the perfect machine. It is light weight, sews great and is easy to use. I love the color.
My Grandson runs 5 K's and they get T-shirts each run. When he was 7 he decided he wanted to cut them into squares and make a quilt. He and I made it together and he has been sewing together ever since. He is now 12 and has enough to make a King quilt, so I bought it for him to make completely on his own. I am also teaching the little girls next door (5 and 8) to make costumes and doll clothes. They love it.
I'm not a good seamstress or quilter and this little machine serves the purpose beautifully. I need to take a class or two to hone my basic skills. The lady who sold me this Singer was very helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant.
This machine is so easy to use! I just love it!
This is the item we wanted and although Amazon listed it, it was not available in any color. Walmart had it, for the same price, and with free shipping (without me having to buy "Prime" coverage) so Walmart got the sale.
I use it to make baby quilts and cloth dolls. Sews really well. The only flaw .. it's not self threading. I would buy again.
Gave this as a Christmas gift and it has worked very well so far. Occasionally, the thread pulls out of the needle, but mostly it has been a great little machine for a beginner.
This was suppose to be a Christmas gift but it was not not packaged. It was delivered in the singer sewing machine box on my door step which my daughter saw. No surprise for her. I can't imagine why Kmart delivered the item totally exposed. Very disappointed. We haven't used the machine yet so I can say anything more than make sure you don't care who sees your delivery.
I bought this so my daughter & I could learn from my mom who was visiting. It took 2dys to figure out how to put it together. Then another to thread it. Mom got the bobbin working fast, but the rest kept tightening till it popped the thread... wasting all our time we had with her & the cost of a large roll of thread, unfinished projects messing up the room, etc. Very disappointed.
Do not waste your money on this sewing machine. I am a home-ec teacher, and when I was told I would be teaching apparel (sewing) the district bought ten of these machines. Two of them simply didn't work at all. Two more worked so poorly I just put them away. The remaining six "sort of work", sometimes. (They skip stitches and the thread tension is impossible to control.) So that is 60% "sort of" working. If you are a beginning sewer, you will think it is you and just give up. If you are an experience sewer, you will be taking it back to the store the first time you try to use it. STAY AWAY from this machine.
