Soooo much better than hand filling your chains... Odd the walmart site recommends using the dremel 10.7V cordless, but they don't carry it on line or in the store... had to buy that elsewhere? I like how easy it is to keep my chainblades sharp now!!
I purchased this product after numerous hours of filing, waiting for my chains to come back from sharpening, and paying too much for chains that dont last. 2 things that i want to say 1 the thing is very fast and does a great job 2 it cost $7 every time i sharpen my chains. I paid $14 for one of the sharpening kits and have sharpened my chain 8 times flawlessly.the guide does two things, sets the proper angle of each tooth and sets the depth.also it doesnt heat treat the tip of the tooth so it doesnt burr or dull as quick.
If you use a chainsaw, you need this sharpener. The rotary stone sharpener can sharpen your chains sharper than a file in a fraction of the time. I can sharpen a 24" chain in 5 to 7 minutes. Plus it's safer to use than a file. This kit fits both a Dremel and a B&D rotary tool.
Right after buying an 18" Poulan Pro from Wal Mart, I cut into a hollow stump... with dirt in it. Dirt is the fastest way to dull your blade and it happens in seconds. So, get out the Dremel and this little toy, choose the right sharpening bit, and fix the blade. It took me maybe 15 minutes from "open the package" to "put it away" and I had a sharp blade for tackling the next two trees that had fallen in the yard. Honestly, Poulan should sell these with their chainsaws! It is a must have unless you want to keep buying new chainsaw blades.
This is my second Dremel chainsaw sharpener. I used one several years ago and lost the first one on the workbench, but for 9 bucks you can't beat the ease of use and utility. It would cost me just under $10 to have the chain sharpened at a shop and I'd have to remove the chain. This lets the operation be done in a few minutes after the guides are set. Now I hope I don't misplace this one.
This Kit is easy to use and very accurate ! I am now able to sharpen my chain whenever it needs it instead of taking it to the shop and waiting to get it sharpened !
Worked straight out of the box and reduced sharpening time to 1/4 of hand filing. Would recommend for anyone having a Dremel and Chain Saw.
Works good. Still need to have a little knowledge of sharpening chains. Won't replace a table sharpener but is great out in the woods.
The Dremel chain saw sharpening attachment provides a good, easy-to-use angle guide for maintaining the proper cutting angle when using the sharpening bits for the Dremel Tool. The bits, or stones, are available individually, but for someone who wants to maintain the correct angle on chain honing, this one-time purchase will give them a good guide.
The accessory to the Dremel is not as convenient to change saw sharpening rocks as it should be. Must change spacers everytime I sharpen a defferent size saw chain. This is time consuming and inconvenient. The Dremel is a good tool to sharpen a chainsaw except for the above.
