This is a great patio box, love the cedar smell and looks. Easy to put together.
Box is excellent, especially for the price. Cedar is quality, the instructions are simple. Takes an hour for installation which is acceptable for this product. I am extremely happy with this product
I figured i could return to walmart if not satisfied so this was a no brainer - no meed though this a Great product -sturdy and easy assembly (power srewdriver is a must) - so much better than plastic units - i love the cedar smell and with its plastic bottom the box slides effortlessly on my wood deck to suppliment seating when needed - i scoured the net and there is noting this quality at this price point - worth every penny.
Sturdy, quality product and looks great on the patio. I stained the wood the day before I put it together. Takes some time to assemble and a helper is a plus for some steps . A cordless screw driver makes things go faster, but isn't a must. The deck box is large enough to fit seat cushions, folding chairs and table umbrellas with room to spare. Got rid of a lot of clutter on the patio. Mostly stuff my wife won't let me throw away. At least now it's hidden.
I bought my first of these deck boxes two years ago for outside by our pool. It's held up well and we get many compliments on it. I love it so much that I bought another one for our sunroom to hold all of our kids toys. It's durable, spacious, but still looks much better than any of the other deck boxes I've seen. It does take time to assembly - about 3 hours, and an extra set of hands is helpful.
The box is great. I love the sitting area. I throw some outside square pillows on top to brighten up the area. I just had a party and it was great sitting area. Its has a lot of room inside and I love it has the shocks to hold up the top. I painted the wood on the outside, left it unpainted inside to keep the cedar smell. If you are looking for added storage and you want your yard to look great this is an excellent piece
Ordered this box site to store. Upon pick up and unpacking we immediately noticed the product had been opened and repacked. The top of the box had something spilled on it and had a small scratch. After cleaning the top we decided to move forward with assembly. Very easy to assemble with a power screwdriver and two people. A couple of coats of cedar wood protector and the box looks good and ready to use.
This deck box looks great and is fairly easy to assemble. I have had it for about 2 months. I did read that I will need to re-stain or water treat the outside wood surface before next summer, sounds like a yearly maintenance to keep the wood surface from degrading. The lid seals tight as it has (2) plunger type cylinders attached, a great feature to protect against the lid popping open from our Kansas winds.
This is a nice looking piece, and things went fairly well putting it together, however the 2 biggest hurdles putting it together were; Though it does say 'do not over tighten', that's hard to put to application. The wood is soft enough to the point, when screwing in the corner pieces, the screws can go through the wood without applying much torque, so be careful with that. The biggest problem was, after finishing the bottom part, which went pretty well, the lid alignment was a problem. The lid just does not align when closed and there is a tendency for one side of the lid to want to pop up and not close securely. However, it was ok when first build, but my impression is that being in the sun, the lid, and/or base expanded or contracted making the lid out of alignment. There is no leeway to adjust hinges or adjust the lid. Once hinges are screwed in and once the lid is screwed to the hinges, that's it. If it's out of alignment, you're on your own. A rubber mallet might do the trick.
This is actually a very sturdy box and attractive (for those in a cold climate remember it does not withstand below freezing temps according to manufacturer so would have to be taken indoors - not an easy task). If skilled it is not necessarily a difficult task to assemble though it is also not an easy task. After a couple of hours of work my friend and I had the wooden portion assembled - hurrah! - only to discover the vinyl bottom AND top did not fit the box!!!!!! With the most industrious of our efforts the box ended up with a quarter inch gap in one corner, a cracked corner board and screws that had to be loosened just to get to this unacceptable point. p.s. the lid subsequently did not fit as well. I really liked the looks of the box and it could have been very serviceable to me even in spite of the egregious flaws; unfortunately the Suncast company wanted to send us another set of wooden parts meaning we would have to disassemble the box and reassemble it in hopes of a fit this time. WHOA!!!!!!! Who's the fool here?!? Way too much work. They were not willing to barter a deal which compelled me to return the entire unit to Walmart for a full refund.
