Ordered this snow thrower as a christmas gift for my sister(strange gift I know) for the side walk.We live in Northeast Ohio. The snow belt area, get alot of snow here. This was the greatest gift I could have gotten for her.We are getting up in age (a little past 60) and using the snow shovel wasn't an option any more. She has used this several times and just loves it.Cuts right through the snow,8 pluse inches with no trouble what so ever. She even used it on the driveway,no trouble there either. This is so useful, does a great job in less time then shoveling, easy on the back.Great product.I give this a 5 star rating.I would recommmend this snow thrower to anyone who is looking for something like this.My sister just loves it!!!!!!!!!!. Just perfect!!!!!!!!.What could be better that a product that is made by Sylvana.
Great snow thrower. I got a little lazy and waited until the snow was pretty high. I measured it at the highest point in my driveway and it was a little over 6". I was wary at first but as soon as I started going the snow was no problem. It'll throw the snow about 10' but that's only if you're going in a straight line. If you using it to throw right or left expect only about 6'. I used a shovel for the last few years and I never will again after using this.
this is the review after i used this product for the first time. This sno-thrower did exactly what i had hoped for and wanted. A low cost unit that gets the less than New England/Upper Rockies type snow off my sidewalk and driveway. We had a 6 inch snow fall and the next day i went out and ran this unit down my sidealk and between the cars and behind the cars that we would take to work. This machine performed great. It did not take most of it down to the bare concrete which was no problem. All i wanted was to remove most of the snow down to maybe 1/2 inch. It threw most of the snow to the side. I would recommend this unit to people that get some but not huge amounts of snow. Worth the money for even once a year.
This little machine is very powerful! Kudos to Walmart because it's holiday season and this was not supposed to arrive until 12/29 to 1/04/2010.. it arrived today, December 23, 2009! We were hit with one of the biggest storms in 100 years over the weekend. The snow was piled high and even after a few days wherein it can get heavy just sitting on the driveway and sidewalk, this machine really makes a difference. Look at it this way, there are much better machines (more pricey ones) out there, but if you are on a budget you get more than your money's worth with this gadget. No more bending lifting and tossing causing back pain. This machine is awesome. I would highly recommend this to anyone.. You dont need to spend hundreds of dollars, you get this and it works just fine. The only thing you do need to get is a long extension cord. I was worried this machine would not work well at all and I am no longer concerned about that, it works great!!
I purchased this thrower after living 16 years in the snow. I really appreciated not having to scoop and throw anymore. The instructions are not all that clear and it does take some time to figure them out. However, it was well worth the small bit of frustration!
Had high hopes for this one, but was let down. Was clear that the unit is only rated to handle "up to six inches" of snow, but for any inches, this is a really a piece of junk. I bought it ahead of the monster storm that just hit Washington. I tried it on all amounts -- from two to six inches, and it does not really work. In VERY dry, powerdery snow, it may work as advertised. For anything less than that, all it does is propel the snow forward about three feet and no higher than your knee. I laugh, because the box shows someone (from the back, conveniently) blowing the snow over their head. Ironically, the unit is not designed to shoot up, so the person in that picture could NOT have been using this product. It did not save me much time, if any. In addition, the instructions are horrible. One major piece does not even match what is on the instructions (they must have redesigned the unit, and I either had old or new instructions). The middle handlebar assembly cannot be mounted on the inside, as shown in the instructions. In addition, the instructions are written SO small, I had to keep going inside to look under a magnifier -- REALLY! This unit is going back, and I can only blame myself for expecting more.
Of the inch of snow I was using this to pick up, it left half of it packed down beneath the machine. It wouldn't shoot the snow to either side, only ahead. After using the snow thrower I had to shovel the entire sidewalk/driveway anyway. Will be returning this to the store ASAP
It dont throw the snow more then 2 feet, and it died the first time I used it. Was not even able to get a area big enough for our car. Also what area it did remove the snow it left behind a 1/4 inch of packed snow that I had to scrape instead of shovel. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!
1st batch of snow this year in Canada so I bought this Snow Thrower. The snow has only been max 2 inches deep and light. Also I used it only on fresh powdery snow. This item worked well for 2 uses then the third time nothing. Also no way does it throw the snow 10' as advertised, only 2', and as for the direction it mainly throws forward even with the the directional control set to the side, and the plastic scoop at the bottom is quite soft so it won't last long even on a smooth concrete surface. I can say though, its good value for money, light and better than a snow shovel. If it hadn't blown then I may have kept it. I'm upgrading to the Walmart Snow Joe as the reviews look good.
If you are looking for some aggravation, and want your snow clearing experience to take 3 times as long as using a shovel, then this is the product for you. I bought this machine and a 12-3 extension cord to handle the amperage required. This machine will throw the snow about 3 feet in front of itself. Forget about throwing the snow to the side as this just will not happen. I was using this machine in 3 inches of snow. I cant imagine using this in 9 inches. Save yourself the hassel of assembly and disassembly to take it back. The only upside to this experience is that now I have a good extension cord that can be used for my power tools....:)
