What made this worth the risk was the small price of the risk. This phone (although "last generation" when compared to touchscreen models) was originally much pricier. Being refurbished takes the guesswork out of the model's reliability because the issue/s have already been addressed. Coupled with a $30 airtime card, -the decision was truly a no-brainer and puts the phone on par with disposable contact lenses. Why buy "insurance" for $9 when the phone effectively only costs $5? I'm a technology consultant and figured out a while ago that if you're patient, --you'll get good stuff for a steep discount while the less self-controlled chase the latest "fads" at premium prices; -a chase which is ever elusive!
This is a great little phone I have never had any problems with this phone, good loud ringers decent pictures, good to text with. This is a simple phone it has fairly large numbers for dialing and texting. LG I think is one of the best brands. Not a smart phone but a good solid phone.
Bought this refurbished with the $30 card and I am really glad I did! The shipping was quick and the phone is like brand new! Nice bright screen, loud ringer, big number buttons, clear sound on voice calls. The phone itself has more weight to it than I thought it would. Doesn't feel cheap! The shortcut buttons are nice too. My daughter tried to talk me out of it the same day I got it! I downloaded several wallpapers for it and the browser was faster than I expected. Even if, someday, I DO decide to purchase a smart phone, I'm still keeping this phone as a back up! Great phone at a great price!
Takes very good pictures, have image effects. No video. Can hear crystal clear. Have message alert. If a person do not leave a message it will show up but will not give an alert. If you have your power turned off it will not show a miss call unless the person leave a message. I bought this phone refurbish and it is like new. With a refurbish phone you are taking a chance, you can get a very good one or trash.
I know this service gets the best reception in Oklahoma's back country for when you are say, fishing, or hunting and out of the normal city limits! No complaints there! The constant text messages reminding you to sign up to auto-renew your service gets a bit tedious, but nice service if you choose to go that route. Honestly, the only complaint that I have is the phone does NOT have any games on it, there are none to download to play while you wait in a doctor's office or somewhere else boring and possibly a long wait. The phone selection really isn't that great for the service, but honestly, who can afford an iPhone when you are on a pay as you go plan?
customer service @ straight talk took over 6 hours in two day to get my old straight talk phone number moved over to this new phone crazy............ thanks to JOE who got my phone working on day two the first time............ASK FOR JOE!!!!!! SOMEONE AT WALMART USA CUSTOMER NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEMS FAST !!!
I got this for my 70 year old Mother and the phone doesn't work properly. It has all kinds of problems. I figured maybe she just wasn't sure how to work the phone but when I checked for myself, sure enough...The phone wasn't working properly for me either. If that's not bad enough; after buying the phone and having it shipped, we have no idea who to report the problems to or how to get another phone. I mean, she hasn't even had the phone 3 weeks yet. Something should be done.
I had owned this phone for a couple years and loved it. My headset jack went out, so I thought I'd grab a refurbished model and keep going. I wasn't expecting a new phone, but I was expecting one that worked. The refurbished phone had a mismatched back on it (no big deal) but the headphone jack was completely useless-- a big deal since that is why I ordered it in the first place. So beware refurbished phones! I ended up buying a new one of this model to replace my original one. It's a great phone with excellent reception if all you need is voice and occasional texting. Mobile service on this model is not useful for web browsing even though it will connect to the internet. The bluetooth feature works well also. So as I said, great phone, poor refurbishing. Fortunately, Walmart took it back.
I was getting tired of paying $135 a month for 3 phones with my cell phone company just to have 450 mintues, unlimited nights and weeks, and unlimited texting. My local Wal-mart, which is an hour away only sells the Straight Talk phones that work with AT&T. The problem is that all the towers where I live are CDMA and will not support the AT&T phones. Verizon has been in my area for a few years now and has an agreement with other CDMA towers. I decided to give this phone a try before I invested in an android. This was a major problem from the start. 1. Soon as I turned the phone on it would not pick up a signal. With my other CDMA phone I get 5 bars at home. 2. I could not get this phone to active because "they are no service in my area." But I'm in the Verizon coverage area. I ended up taking the phone back to Wal-mart for a refund. I will be going back to my contract cell phone. I'd rather pay 3X more to be able to use my phone.
I purchased this phone refurbished. This is the second refurbished straight talk phone I have purchased from Walmart and both had existing accounts on the phone, so instead of calling to activate and having the problem taken care of within minutes, because there were existing accounts on the phone I was on the phone for 5 hours trying to resovle the issue with straight talk. If Walmart is going to sell refurbished phones they should make sure that existing accounts are cleared off the phone so their customers don't have to go through the hassle of spending hours with customer service fixing this problem themselves.
