Great phone service

I decided to go with Straight Talk's wireless home phone because Comcast was always charging me different prices each month, with NO changes to my service. I've been a Straight Talk cell phone customer for 3 yrs now & is a great service. At $15.00 a month, you can't beat that...especially if your on a limited income like me. So far, no interruption of a signal. I highly recommend Straight Talk Home & cell to everyone!

At first some " the verizon phone number can not be reached as dialed" but that soon went away and now it works perfectly. It even has a back up battery in case the power goes out. Main thing is it's $15 plus 7% sales tax a month period. No hidden fees, taxes, or surcharges like Century Link. I am so glad to be free of the phone company monopoly.

I just set this up yesterday. We live in a rural area where Verizon cell phones work the best, so I was encouraged that this product uses the Verizon network. I was leery of giving up our land line till I knew this worked, so I set it up with a new number first. I found the on line setup process to be easy and quick. (I am 60 and moderately technical.) It worked! My husband said I sounded better on it than on our land line. Then, I used chat to port my old number. Initially I was 23rd in line at chat and the estimation was a 15 min. wait. The wait ended up being less than 3 minutes. The chat contact was able to get everything going to port my number. 2 hours later, I got a call and was told that my land line company would port my old number to the Straight Talk Home Phone on 3/3 at 1pm. Until then, we have our old land line. I will review again if we find there are any snags; but, so far, the voice quality was good and the set up easy. I look forward to signing up for automatic, monthly payments if the first month goes well. One less bill in the mail. One less thing to remember. AND we are saving $30 a month! (Figuring in the cost of the machine, we will break even after 3 months.) Yea!

Great device and service

I got this device for my elderly father when he needed to go into a short term stay at Assisted Living. It was easy to set up and allowed him to use his own personal land-line phone that he was comfortable with, without having expensive hook up fees for one month. After the month, he will be relocating, and he can bring his phone service with him. He is only paying $15 a month for unlimited local and long distance (nationwide) whereas with his land-line service at home was costing him $70-120 a month with his long distance calling. The device itself will be paid for in about one month of savings in long distance charges. This device delivers good quality sound though his phone, clear as a bell. Now I want one for myself to reduce my home phone bill, but for now I need faxing capability, so its not an option--yet.

We've been using the Straight Talk Wireless box for almost a week now. Call quality is definitely affected by the reception it is getting, so finding the sweet spot in your house will help a lot. Typically, it's higher in the home and near a window. The setup didn't go quite as well as I'd hoped. I chose the option to port my existing number from another carrier to Straight Talk, but when the setup was complete, I had a brand new number. However, one phone call to their support and the porting process was underway, and about 4-5 days later I had my old number back. Other than that, the account and hardware setup was fine and gave almost no trouble.

Great Home Phone

I have owned this Wireless Home Phone since March 2013. I haven't had any problems with making and receiving calls. Plug this unit into a wall outlet and plug your landline phone into the unit. Call customer service to activate. That's all to it. No internet needed. It works great. This is the first time that I've been satisfied with owning a home phone, and the first time since 1979 that I have had a $15.00 phone bill. Thanks Straightalk!

Works well but longer activation time

I've only had this for 1 week and so far the call clarity is the same as my previous phone service which was comcast's digital voice. It took much longer to get the phone activated than I thought. Please be aware that if you do this on a weekend then you won't have any phone service until at least two business days. I tried setting up everything on a Sat. afternoon. Luckily I do have a cell phone which I could use. I kept my old phone number and I was alerted by Straight talk around 11:00 am on the following Tues. that my phone was ready to be activated. I also found out that caller ID names won't show up unless they've been programmed into your phone. Only the phone numbers show up. This is fine even though I was used to seeing names along with the phone number. I will be able to save a lot of money though and this is why I decided to make the switch.

Worth the Trouble

First off, I didn't find the customer support as obnoxious as many reviewers did. And wait times could be long, but by emailing customer support (from the web site) at least I didn't have to wait on hold because they call you when there available. Setting this up with a new number issued by Straight Talk is a snap. The porting of your old land line number to Straight Talk is where things can get interesting. This process took just over two business days for my small rural phone company to process. Old phone worked for all but the last three hours before I was able to complete activation on the Wireless Home Phone box. My problem came when I found out that local calls place to my number were getting a "Number out of service" message. Incoming Long Distance and Wireless calls were coming in just fine. Straight Talk couldn't get this problem resolved, so I called our Local land line company and explained what was happening. They finally called me back and admitted the problem was with there equipment and fixed it. Now I have great phone service at less then half the cost of a land line.. NOTE: The Wireless Home Phone adapter must be placed so that Both Signal Strength lights are on. Anything else will produce Call Quality issues. I mounted mine on the wall of my mud room and ran a phone line into my kitchen where it plugs into a DECT 6.0 wireless phone base unit. Once you charge the battery in the Wireless Home Phone adapter you can un-plug it and move it around the house until you find a location where both Signal Strength Lights are illuminated. Usually near a window, but some modern windows block radio signals, so you will have to experiment a little. Good Luck and hope this helps you with your decision. P.S. The on-line activation "Number Porting" process didn't work for me. Site seemed to lock me into account establishment procedure and would not advance to the number porting questions. I ended up calling the 1-800 number and having it done in person.

The product itself is good, but the customer service from straight talk is awfull. I transfered my old number to the straight talk device. It took a few days, and when they notified me the service had been activated I could not recieve or make calls. I was getting a busy signal, so I called the customer service. I waited on the phone for over an hour. Then when the rep came on the line it took him another 30 minutes to get his computer to open his tools to help me. After being on the phone for 2 hours my problem was resolved. It works perfect for all the calls you want to make, but you can not use a fax machine using this device.

The unit was not able to be registered by the serial number, Walmart had failed to scan it properly. I had to return to a Walmart store for scanning. Now it is registered but Straight Talk has yet to program it. According to Straight Talk, by 2:00 today I will be able to have it programmed. This is 5 days my home phone has been out of commission and not useable. I am still hopeful it will work well when everything is completed.
