This device should be treated as two separate devices that are in one box and it is very versatile, The Huawei H350L provides home phone service like the Huawei H258C Home Phone from Straight Talk. This service from Straight Talk is at a very affordable rate rate. The Huawei H350L also provides you with an internet connection via the Straight Talk mobile phone network again at some very affordable rates that are avaiable as data only plans. The Huawei H350 due to a better antenna gets a better signal, and you can take it with you when you travel. Just plug it in for power and you now have your home phone and internet!
The device works great! But I wish the service plans were comparable to the cell phone plans. Max of 5gigabytes is somewhat limited when for less money cell phone plans can get 12gigabytes. Come on! A gigabytes is still a gigabyte what difference does the device make. I needed the Ethernet connection that this device had, otherwise I'd just go for a phone or a hotspot.
Have had this service for along Time need another for a gift can't find them in any of the walmarts or on their site
Purchased this for my elderly/disabled mother, who could not get internet service from a major provider because of her location. The signal strength was good and easy to set up. But then my mother had extremely had data usage, so I called Straight Talk. The customer care reps are the worse that I have ever dealt with. They were not at all concerned with helping and I was basically told 'it is what it is'. They could not tell me when the data was used or what it was used for and would not issue a credit. The instructions should warn customers that data can be used when your device is left on overnight and that once you use all of your data, you have to purchase both phone and internet service again, you cannot purchase just data for this device. Due to poor customer service, I will be looking for another provider. Wifi on/off switch does not work either.
There are several problems with this device. First, it does not come with a users manual or detailed instructions. Second, poor customer service. When you call straight talk customer service you get someone in the Philippines that has no knowledge of how this device operates, thus they are helpless. If you are able to download the manufacturer's manual, the features offered may not be supported by straight talk. And you cannot find out from straight talk if those features (example remote access by virtual server) are supported because their staff has no technical support for this device. Third, the maximum wifi data available is 5GB for 30 days. This is very limited. If you run out before the 30 days is up, you cannot use the wifi at a reduced service level. Instead the device shuts off the wifi, while the phone remains working and you either pay again to start new wifi service or wait till the 30 days expire on the phone service part of the phone and buy a new service plan to restart the wifi/phone again. Someone please bring better internet service options to Southwest San Antonio!
This device worked fairly well for a couple years then all of the sudden my last monthly plan would not be recognized so I could not use the device anymore. I spent over 4 hours on the phone with technical support over three calls and was transferred over 12 times before I finally asked to speak to a manager on each of the last two calls. None of them were able to get the phone working even after replacing the sim card a second time. They would not even refund the $35 monthly plan I paid for that was never used and could not be used. This is by far THE worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.
I left a detailed feedback earlier today but I don't see the review. Walmart supplier management needs to review Straight Talk issues concerning customer support. I could go on for hours as per my previous review. The company was not able to transfer my previous phone number and after multiple support calls spending many hours, gave up and reluctantly was assigned a new number. The device functioned for about 10 days. My phone services were shutdown. I am handicapped and really need the service. The call center was closed on Friday 12/16 and called on Saturday. I spent countless hours attempting to turn my phone services. I spoke with multiple support personnel and was transferred from department to department. I pleaded for resolution due to my disability. I was issued a troubleshooting ticket and was only told I would receive a callback in 24/48 hours. On Monday not receiving a callback called a entered my phone number to receive a callback on Saturday ticket. I waited until the PM and called again. Spending another several hours being transferred to 3 different support agents was told they were unwilling to reset my device to restore my phone service. Walmart NEEDS to contact their supplier for corrective action. I have utilized TracFone since 2005 but never have to deal with this. Straight Talk is only sold through Walmart and NEEDS to own and resolve this.
Phone works great. Internet worked for one week. Sitting the now just blinking. Checked and found I was out of data. Card lasted one week. Lousy product.
