I've read other reviews at other sites and I don't understand anything less than 5. Maybe they had problems turning screws or they couldn't read "fill here" or the instructions that it holds 4 quarts, a gallon, or they were just stupid. We have had ours for over ten years and for a 7 ft. tree it is perfect.
With a new puppy in the house we were concerned about the stability of our Chistmas tree this year. This stand is very stable, was easy to get the tree into and allows easy access to add water. A great buy at walmart and highly recommended.
