Very good flashlight! Very resistant and high quality for the price! I am a road service guy and i use this flashlight to make my way in all the repairs that I inquire on the road. I use the flashlight in all weather conditions and so far I'm not disappointed. 2 weeks and she dont have a defect, and batteries are still those who were equipped! Very good deal!

greatest, handy, durable, ever

I can't say too much in favor of this light. My son had given me one for my birthday and when christmas came around I just had to return the favor along with one for him to give his Mother. One very nice thing about it is that of being powered with AA batteries instead of some special mini battery. The convenience of the recessed switch in the end of the light prevents accidental switching and provides for very brief flashes without engaging the switch-lock mode as well. got-go

Best deal on LED Light out there
(5)
Reviewed in the USA on 2011-12-21T16:00:00

This LED light is an amazing deal for the money. I would not normally write a review, but it is well deserved from this electrical engineer: 1) reasonably bright 2) runs off 2 AA batteries, NOT 3 AAA! 3) has dc to dc converter (many cheap ones do not but instead just have direct connect) 4) is one of few models offered with interchangeable color lenses and the only one for the price 5) the switch feels decent, not cheap 6) has a convenient carry clip (also not cheap feeling) Number 2 is huge. Two AA batteries have from 65% to 90% more energy depending upon the current drain compared to three AAA batteries which most other LEDs lights use. NOT to mention the fact that using an odd # of batteries (three) is very inconvenient and more costly for the 'other' LED lights. Having the DC to DC converter means it should be able to also use rechargeable AA batteries, which with their lower 1.25 volts would otherwise not work well, but I haven't tested them out yet; in addition the DC to DC would give it a more consistent brightness as the battery voltage begins to drop some (better for rechargeables as their discharge cycle shows constantly reduced voltage). Fyi blue filter is for water use (fishing at night, etc.), the blue light penetrates water better but I have not tested to see how strong the effect is. Not sure what green would be for. KUDOS to B&D, Rayovac, and Wal-mart. They deserve to sell millions of these. Perhaps this will help lower the price on over-priced lights. Overall awesome deal!!

Very Durable lite

Im a mechanic that works mainly nites. Bought this lite cause it was slim and had a white lite. I've purchased many lites before and for the price , why not! Been using this lite for three months now. Ive dropped it from more than 6ft., had it covered with grease/oil/diesel/gas, ran over it, and even thou I know better, a frequent tapping device. It fits confortably in my hand and the on/off button as held up awesome. The lite it self is very bright and shines a good distance. This lite goes with me everywhere (even on days). I keep it in my back pocket for easy access. Those of you wondering about the clip? It is still attached and working perfectly. As for me, I think Im going to buy me a few more for safe keeping. You never know when the lites will go out!

Versatile light...with horrible packaging

PROS: Good build quality, low price, nice extras CONS: Terrible packaging Being so impressed with Black and Decker's 6V hand lantern (BDBEAM-B, also available at Walmart), I just had to pick this one up too. The best part about both of these lights is that they are actually made by Rayovac; and although they are sold as different models with Rayovac packaging, the B&D models are identical and cost substantially less. I am pleased with the build quality of this clip light. It is heavier than I thought it would be and feels sturdy in the hand, and the cap switch feels very well designed--similar to those on more expensive lights. The clip is a bit of a nuisance if you're trying to manipulate the cap switch with your thumb, but this is a relatively minor issue. (I find it much more comfortable to use my index finger instead.) This LED light purports to put out 60 lumens, but my Maglite Mini 2AA claims 69 lumens and is significantly brighter. As opposed to that light, this one has a dimmer spot that diffuses very evenly into the flood. (In fact, it's more of a floodlight than a spotlight, which I didn't expect.) Still, the B&D is adequate for finding your way around in the dark, reading a map, etc. Plus, it comes with three bonuses: 1) Three colored lenses that are very easy to snap on and off of the light. The red is, of course, good for night vision, which is of use to astronomy buffs. The packaging claims the blue is best for "tracking" and the green for "long distance and night reading." I personally doubt their usefulness; I will probably stick to the clear and the red lenses. 2) A nylon holster with a compartment for each lens. This is a nice addition--I wasn't sure how I was going to keep from losing the lenses. Now I can throw the holstered light, with lenses in tow, into my backpack and have a nice EDC (everyday carry) light. 3) Two AA Rayovac alkaline batteries. Usually lights come with heavy duty batteries or none at all. I have found all sizes of Rayovacs (from AAA's to 6v lantern batteries) to not only be about 2/3 of the cost of Energizers and Duracells, but they last just as long in every device I've tried them in. To be clear, I am not affiliated with Rayovac in any way--I'm just a fan of their products. Okay, here's my one beef: the packaging is horrible. I've opened a lot of blister packs in my time, and even have a special tool for doing so. But this is hands-down the most difficult I have ever tried to open. Not only is the plastic exceedingly tough to cut, but I was worried about damaging the lenses as I did so. They are in recessed compartments, and even when I cut them into tiny circles I had to bang on the packaging from the other side to pop them out. I almost took a star off of "Overall Rating" and "Meets Expectations," but ultimately I concluded this would be unfair--after all, I still like the product. Overall, I highly recommend this light. It is well-built, versatile, and made by Rayovac, a brand I trust. Just be patient opening the package and you're golden!

If you knew me you would know I love flashlights. Not to weird since I work security. I basically got this light so I could see IDs in the dark. However I also learned this light is very good for shining in trees as well. Lights up all the fine little details. It doesn't go far but it goes far enough for a little flash light. I like how it's heavy and it is impact resistant (oups). Unlike metal ones your not like OMG when you drop it on nice shiny expensive floors. I like how they built the flashlight to snap in the lens. This also keeps you from scratching the clear lens if your like me drop it a lot. True to it's word it is water resistant. In matter of fact I just dropped mine into my 10 gallon fish tank without any disruptions. Shook it off dried it off and the light never flickered. Clip is really grippy I clip it on the coat hook of the porta potty when I am forced to use it. Or to a branch or my shirt if I need to write something and I need light. Only con is something just seems to be missing from this flashlight. Maybe I am just being greedy but I nono just somethign is missing.

It's about time somebody decided to do this. I use a penlight almost every day. One day a store put all their Eveready penlights on clearance. I bought every single one they had. Today I have only one left that still works. Seems they designed the switch poorly and they tended to go bad. Way to go B & D!

Flashlight and attached accessories work great but pocket clip is weak

I bought this and was pleased of it's design but I had incredible difficulty removing it from it's more than durable packaging. I needed pretty heavy duty scissors to cut it out. Even the perforated hole intended to aid me was of no use. When I did finally twist it out, it slipped off the table onto the floor and the clip mechanism shattered, leaving jagged plastic on the flashlight. I was disappointed it was damaged before even getting to use it. I decided the pocket clip wasn't important to me and sanded it down to be smoother. In the end, great flashlight. I used it camping and I have no complaints about the build, grip, or functionality. Just beware that the clip will break if dropped.

Damaged in packaging

Opened packaging and a small piece of plastic fell out. Then the clip fell out as tI realized the piece of plastic was part of the base that held the clip. The front cover that holds the lens was cracked as well. Now the cover will not hold the additional lens options. As the prior reviewer stated, the packaging is difficult to get into. Due to this, I am not sure how the front cover was damaged or the clip base was broken. The flashlight is bright with the white lens as I did try it, but not with the lens colors due to the damage.
