I love it!!

This is the best treadmill I have ever been on. All of those electric ones do the work for you. All you are getting is the benefit of walking. This one you actually have to work at walking. It is great. I really felt like I have worked out when I get off of it.

Perfect for your needs

This is an excellent treadmill for someone who wants to get in their daily exercise and not worry about the weather outdoors. I would recommend it for an average height person who is not extremely overweight. I use it for cardiac health care and to keep in shape. I saw results within 10 days. I use it daily for 20-30 minutes and feel great. It is well worth the money. I had a similar product years ago with a popular brand name that cost me $600. This one is just as good.

Treadmill

I was a little leery since it's a "manual" treadmill, but the belt is really smooth gliding and it's easy to walk on. The monitor keeping track of time, distance, calories burned etc is great! I'm a 58 year old woman and I even put it together all by myself!

It does the job only if you answer yes to all

This treadmill does the job only if you answer yes to all of the following: • Is the convenience of a light weight rolling treadmill that you can move to the side, closet, in front of the TV, or from room to room your number one priority? I needed the kind of treadmill I could roll it in front of the TV to exercise and then fold it and roll it to the side. My girls (11 and 13 years old) can roll it to their bedrooms and exercise. It weights about 50 lb. Unfortunately, there is no motorized treadmill at that weight, so I had to sacrifice the quality of a motorized treadmill for the convenience of a manual treadmill. • Are you under 5'6” tall or under 5'10” tall and you don't mind bending slightly to hold the bar? It works great for me (I'm 5'2”) and my girls. My husband (5'10”) has to bend, so he doesn't like it. • Can you keep a steady pace or you don't mind jerky starts and stops? It took me a week to get used to it. My girls managed to keep a steady pace sooner than I did! • Do you need it primarily for incline walking? You might need to adjust the belt if you do a lot of running. • Fancy fitness data are not important to you.

Adequate Product

The Edge 500 Manual Treadmill is an adequate product for those looking for an effective and reasonably priced manual treadmill. The assembly was easy with good instructions. Had some initial problems with a jerky belt which were solved with some WD40. Also, it took 4 adjustments to get the belt to stop tracking. But here also, the instructions for stopping the tracking were good. The treadmill folds up easily to get it out of the way when not in use. I bought the treadmill for cardio work out, but once it was in the house, my 85 year old parents also started using it. The incline was too steep for the 85 year olds and we had a block built with safety guards to lessen the incline – which works great. The sensor monitor is good. Overall the treadmill met our expectations and was a good value. We would not recommend this treadmill for those wanting to run on it as the bed is short.

Just what I needed

The treadmill itself is what I wanted. However, during shipping, the plastic pieces that adjusts the height were broken. Instead of going through the trouble of returning it, I put a couple of phone books underneath the end to rise it up, which works fine.

Not as Advertised

First of all it's dimensions were not as advertised. The tread belt was advertised as "wide" and was supposed be 15"W x 45"L but the belt was only 11"W x 38"L - I never would have purchased it if I knew it was that narrow. Also, it just isn't smooth. I supposed you get what you pay for, but while my husband could sort of make it go, I could not. It kept starting and stopping in a jerking motion. I nearly fell off! We returned it and bought a used motorized treadmill.

The first couple of days I was really excited. It is true that this machine is always on the incline position and it's only been a few days now that my back is starting to hurt. I'm really convinced that it's b/c of the inclining because I walk and run on it every night almost. I might return this product ...I guess it's true... "you get what you pay for!"

Not a good product

I was very disappointed in the treadmill. I am devoted Wal Mart shopper, and although that probably won't change anytime in the near future, however, I will be more discerning of products I purchase from the retailer on-line from here on out. The treadmill, although I knew it was manual, didn't allow me to run freely on it. The belt kept sticking, and it was too small. I'm a fairly large guy, and the last thing a person wants to feel, while trying to loose weight, is anymore uncomfortable. I've since shopped on-line at Wal Mart, and continue to be somewhat impressed with the site, but again, that product was a disappointment and I won't make that kiind of purchase too quickly again.

Watch Out!

If you are 5'6” or taller you will be too tall to use the treadmill comfortably, the hand rails will be too low causing you to hunch over when walking or running. The belt was easy to move, but any change in step or speed would cause the belt to slow down and send the user either backwards or forwards losing balance. So this also made maintaining speed for a maximum workout almost impossible. There were also issues with the belt constantly needing adjustment almost after every use.
