Got him on preorder for my 2 year old's Birthday. He is THE COOLEST! He blinks and moves his mouth giving him a "Real life" affect, he sings, dances, you can control him with a snowflake remote, you have the option to have him follow you around, or you can guide him around with the remote. If your child is obsessed with Olaf like mine, this is DEFINITELY a toy you want to purchase. It's the closest thing to being "real Olaf" don't wait to buy him! i can see him being a hard to find item closer to Christmas FOR SURE!
We purchased this for my boyfriend's daughter as a christmas present. She is in love with it and takes it everywhere.
This is cool, it follows your shadow! It really blinks its eyes like it's real. So cool
I purchased Olaf for Christmas for my 3 year old son, knowing that all three of my children would likely love it if he didn't. My five year old son basically took him over immediately and I'm not sure my 3 year old has ever really connected to the toy for more than five minutes at a time. That being said, as a parent, I was disappointed with it. This is one of the few things I've bought that needs a Pro/Con list: Cons: -The remote is a huge pain. It often doesn't work correctly, the manual says, 'oh, just turn the remote on and off and start over, do the same with Olaf.' But as often as you have to reset the thing to get it to function it gets a bit tedious for something that is a toy. The remote lights up like a snowflake with activation, which is cute but the buttons it has on it don't always function as they should, causing some frustration when you're wanting it to do something and it doesn't seem to be computing. -You have to often press Olaf's hand to get him to wake, he doesn't always do so when he is supposed to, causing another turning on and off of both the toy and remote because you can't do one without the other to make them compute. -In my opinion (and keep in mind my kids are 6 and under so their ages may be the factor) it isn't an easy remote for a kid to control. -He will follow your child...if you control it to follow your child. Which is fun but he definitely doesn't ever seem to do it without control from someone else, like a remote-controlled car. -This toy will shout 'KEEP GOING, KEEP GOING, KEEP GOING,' which the kids find hilarious but when it is their favorite remote setting it definitely feels very loud and a bit much. Even a cute snowman can be annoying when yelling through the house. -THE BIGGEST CON that they don't let you know before purchase: This toy is only good for around 40 minutes of playing time before you have to change the batteries. This is something I only discovered after the day after Christmas Olaf wouldn't really wake up. He'd open his eyes, turn his head, and go back to sleep. So, I read the manual more closely and saw the time limit, and was shocked. I'm not sure why they wouldn't make this a rechargable toy like some of the electronic pets and such out there, I found it hard to believe many parents out there would be just fine with going through buckets of batteries every week for a toy. I think it's probably more than 40 actual minutes of play time before he starts to go slow and clearly needs new batteries. I've replaced them once since Christmas, my kids play with him a lot but sometimes he's not really turned on and if he is it isn't for more than ten or so minutes at a time before Olaf turns himself off, and when he's off it seems to do better with saving the batteries. I was just very stunning to read that in the manual and I have read reviews on other websites where people said their Olaf stopped working or didn't turn on right, I think some of them have failed to realize the battery-sucking issue being the reason the toy doesn't work well. So, after all that, I was really disappointed that he wasn't a less fuss sort of toy and I wasn't crazy about having to replace new batteries so soon after putting them in. I expected him to function better than he did, so that too was a disappointment for me to the put that I regretted the purchase, but... Pros: For all the cons I listed, my kids, especially my five year old son, loves this Olaf. We've had two stuffed Olafs and a harder talking Olaf and this is definitely the best Olaf we've ever had, and not just because he speaks and moves but because in appearance he most resembles and captures the cute, adorable image of what Olaf is in Frozen. He's very, very soft for being a mechanical toy, definitely something your child can hug and tote around, in spite of how heavy he is. They like when he's singing and turned on, they like him talking, my kids especially like watching him move around the house but most of all they just like HIM. They play with him, they play with him like any other companion toy, and if he isn't talking to them non-stop they don't seem bothered by it. Like I said before, they don't always bother to turn him on, if his eyes are open they're fine just playing with him. So, I suppose what I'm saying is even though I wouldn't tell my friends to buy this for their kid because of all the issues I have with it, their kids may still like it more than any other Olaf variant they've purchased and may love him, side effects and all. You just have to weigh what's important to you, a toy that works or a toy that will be loved for all its bugs and kinks. I invite you to read as many reviews as possible before you make your decision (as I try to do) because there have been many problems with him, but do know he is probably the best physical-quality Olaf you will find out there if you look at that and then factor in that he walks, talks, and sings as a bonus. It's just what you find important in your desire for purchase, I guess. It does help that he was fairly inexpensive for all that he does in comparison to other interactive toys like him, if you think it's worth a shot for not a ton of money, you might have a better experience than I did.
Moving Olaf was cute but his responses were kind of slow so he did not hold much attraction for my 5 year old daughter.
Should have done something other than IR remote control. My 5 year old could not use it without kneeling down in front of it.
I bought this for my daughter and she was so excited at first but he has never worked! I have switched batteries in both Olaf and the remote. The remote lights up but Olaf doesn't move or sing or anything. He occasionally moves his head but even that is rare. Very disappointed in this toy!
Opened for Christmas - 5 minutes afterwards, it quit working. Now must go through the process of having to return the grandchild's Christmas present. And hope there is something as a suitable replacement. Not Happy!!!
Not only did this item come late, the controller only works half the time, it doesnt reverse it has to pull forward to turn around.
It worked great for about 2 days other than the fact the motors to make him move are load. Then it just stopped. Tried new batteries bit nothing. Seems to be a communication problem between the remote and the toy.
