Being an old school guy from the original 1st generation Transformers I had to buy this one for my nephew's 7th birthday. We opened it and I wanted to show him how to transform Optimus... IT TOOK ME 30 minutes to figure out how to transform him. He was too complicated to transform! My nephew just gave up and played with him in vehicle mode. Its a great toy, but for the audience it supposed to be targeted to, a little complicated.
I would never get this toy for a kid, but it is great for those adults who are still kids at heart. My husband got this right after the movie came out and it is one of his most treasured toys. My 2 year old likes to pull it to pieces, but my hubby just snaps it back together and it still transforms just like it did the day we bought it. I highly recommend this toy!!
I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Optimus Prime rules the Transformers toy line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never had a Transformer this cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might have some trouble with transforming the front end of the truck at first, like I did, but you'll get the hang of it. The flames on the truck make this the perfect toy for you or somebody else you know that likes Transformers. The sound effects rock out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this for my son, and he wont put it down. At first it seemed challenging for him to transform it, but by the next day , he got the hang of it. Now when mom gets upset and says, "I'm taking him back to the store!", my son shapes up and begs me to change moms mind. Now he's looking forward to getting the "Yellow One".
This figure is just amazing! I thought it would be difficult to transform, but it was extremely easy. The first time I took five minutes, now I can do it in under two, all without the instructions. The coloring is perfect, as is the articulation. The Automorph Technology alone makes this toy incredible. A must have for Transformers fans young and old.
All in all, the item is great. While it is the most advanced conversion level for the Transformers, the transformation is fairly easy to learn. There are only a few things that are a bit annoying about the toy. The lights for the light up feature are an amber color, not blue as pictured. This is particularly ugly on the robot. The other thing that is annoying is Optimus's gun. While it's fine in robot mode, it's way too visible in vehicle mode. Luckily, the gun is easily removable, so it doesn't have to be in vehicle mode.
The Optimus Prime movie leader transformer was very hard to get ahold of this Christmas season, but was well worth the effort. My 10 year old son loves the toy, and he can transform it from robot to truck pretty easily when following the instructions. It seems to be very durable, and will keep him happy for a long time. Good purchase for $40.
My husband and son (5yo) are huge transformers fans. This was a HOT item on my son's list for Christmas this year. Both hubby and son loved the gift, however it does take some time to transform him and we were less than impressed with the final step when he finishes transforming on his own. Overall~Great toy for your little, or big, transformer fan!
The Transformers figures are getting better with each new generation and Optimus Prime is no exception. The leader of the Autobots once again dons a semi truck for a disguise, which looks better than ever. This figure is highly pose-able with great detail. This figure is a must for a Transformers fan. It features electronic lights and sounds, as well as, a partially automated transformation process.
This was my 4-year-old first transformer. It was spendy, but we were so excited that we were able to get one..so the price was not an issue initially. My 4-year-old did have a hard time transforming OP into vehicle mode b/c he was concern that it would break. But after several tries, he's doing it on his own. So if you are not patient, I would not recommend this to a 4-year-old or younger. But other than that, sounds and details on OP are killer. It's beefy parts will not break, believe me. This is one tough OP. I also collect action figures, so I'm also going to buy another to add to my attic collection. Looking forward to the Transformers movie Part 2.
