My husband and I bought the John Deere Gator for our grandson for Christmas. He loved it! Although not quite 3 years old he wanted to "go faster", so my son took off the lock for the 2nd gear. He laughed so much when he rode it. We all had such a good time watching him drive it by himself. The amount of assembly required was a surprise, but my son had no problems putting it together. The one thing we noticed was that there were a few differences in the application of the stickers between the booklet and the seperate pages showing the application of them. It was not that big of a deal, however, it is something that needs watched out for.
My son loves his Gator. He would ride it every day if he could. It is such a neat toy. It looks like the real Gators and he thinks he is big stuff riding on it. Expensive but worth it!
My son loves this product!!! he got it for his 4th birthday and rides it everyday. he even takes the dog for a walk with it. it was a bit hard to assemble but we have loved it and have been impressed with it. he drives it in the grass, on the sidewalk, and even on hills. he even helps daddy hall firewood to our fire pit with it. it is a great product and should make any child happy.
My son got this as a Christmas present. He is 4. He absolutely loves it! He says it doesn't get stuck. It goes really good in the higher gear. We live on a pretty big hill and it will go from the bottom to the top. We almost decided to get the one from bass pro shop (artic cat) because we were afraid this would not be here before Christmas. We are so glad we didn't. It is much smaller. The bed on this John Deere dumps and is much bigger. If your child likes to ride outside, I would highly recommend this gator!
I have a 3 year old son & we got this for his 3rd B-day & he just loves it It was a great present & something he can use for the next few years
This product met all expectations. Purchased at Christmas for 3 1/2 year old girl and 16 month old boy to share. It has been wonderful. The battery life lasted longer than expected when fully charged. However, the battery is not very user friendly to get out and charge. Please let me suggest a wonderful tool when buying these battery operated vehicles. There are treads marketed to place over these plastic wheels to keep them from spinning on wet grass and/or hills. I read about buying bicycle tires and glueing or screwing them on. I purchased tires from Walmart and we screwed them onto the tires and my kids have even ridden through the mud. Their gator has NEVER STOPPED and the tires have never spinned unlike their cousins jeep. You have to do this when buying one of the battery operated vehicles. Doing it yourself was easy and cheaper than buying the marketed treads.
This has been a wonderful toy for my 3 year-old son and my 8 year-old daughter. We have had the Gator for about 1 month now. Would definately spend the money and get a 2nd battery. We get about 1 hour of use before the battery runs out. Very convenient to just pull out the extra battery and plug it into the Gator and the kids are ready to go. Then just plug in the spent battery and start charging it. Only real complaint would be the hard plastic wheels have a hard time getting traction if the ground is wet. I have tried putting silicone down the middle of the tire, which didn't work, along with spraying pruning tar on the rear wheels which provides maybe marginally better traction. But really a minor problem. Gator is sturdily build and goes wherever the kids make it go. Putting the Gator together can be frustrating, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time AND look at all the included paperwork as there are several updates for the original assembly schematics. I recommend this battery powered toy for anyone looking to provide their kids with many hours of fun and also gives them a reason to get outside!
we got the gator for our sons' 2 nd birthday, he LOVED it. He couldnt really drive it that well.. but after a while he finally learned to drive it. It was Great.. he would drive in the grass and then the only thing is that the reverse SOMETIMES works and then other times it dont work. we plan on buying a power wheel barbie jeep for our daughter real soon!
The vehicle is too light and even on a 2 degree slope the vehicle will slip. Perhaps, either the vehicle needs to have more weight or rubber wheels.
My son loves this riding toy. Me on the other hand hated to put it together. It took me and my wife three hours to put it together. The instructions had no words or colors. The pictures were black and white and had no descriptions. It was one heck of a job. Its very durable and runs a log time. It really was a good purchase. My son is three and has drove it everyday.
