On my Grandsons 8th birthday he wanted this gift he seen at walmart and told me he loved to have it. Well that is what he got and yelled with joy, he told me for Christams I needed to get the Rover for him. For most of my grandchildren toys were destroyed by IKE. The joy on his face made all the difference to me. He plays for hours with it.
This line of products is fabulous for kids who like to build to their imaginations! We have the Shark Ship, Fire Rescue, and now the Shuttle. All of them can be interchanged, to build bigger and better things. These really keep my 7-year-old's interest! Love 'em!!
Santa brought the Matchbox Shuttle to our 3yr old this past Christmas so we've had it in our house for about 10 days now. Our 3yr old is almost 4. With all that said, this is a great toy. The shuttle and all its many parts have held up very well. There was some concern the first day when he had some trouble attatching parts himself but he figured it out - nothing broke - and now is creating new vechs himself with ease. Since there were SO many parts I picked up a storage bin so each night he could put all the pieces away, other wise I'm sure we'd be losing some or stepping on them. We also cut the pictures from the box out and applied them to the back side of the storage cover so he could see more ideas to build. He liked that. He's acutally done well with the all the parts. Once in a great while asks for my help to take something apart but loves playing with it. Its great for his imagination. Only down side -- the aliens space ship is too loud for my ears. Think I'll put a piece of tape over that speaker - lol
Wow! This is a great Toy. All of the pieces mix & match. We bought this for our 4 year old son and he loves it. You can create large shuttles, small shuttles, small vehicles with wheels, without wheels, etc... We liked it so much and our son loves it so much we bought him the Matchbox Space Rover for $17.50, which you can mix and match with this set. The Space Rover also has a motorized set of wheels which can be attached to the Mega Rig shuttle set. The shuttle set is not motorized, so we would highly recommend you adding the Space Rover if you purchase the Mega Rig. One Reviewer mentioned this product was Cheaply Made and I CANNOT DISAGREE MORE. I've played with this with my son and this is virtually indestructable.
This toy is highly recommended for a 6-7 year old to use their imigination. Very durable and so many ways to make different optins for toys.
I had bought this for my son and was just as excited to give it to him as he was when he received it. At first glance it seemed to be the perfect gift. We got it out of the box and my husband put it together. My son was off to outerspace. I finally got to look it over and test out the pieces. When it comes down to it, it is a good fun toy but made very poorly. I have not been very happy with the matchbox toys all we have had has been very flimsy and breaks easily. Well I thought this one would be different, but I was wrong the doors seem very fragile and could break quick. My son loves the toy so far but I am afraid that it will not last long. I think you could get something better for as much as this toy costs. Very dissapointed with the way it is made.
My son saw this toy and immediately asked for it to be added to his Christmas wish list. I looked it over before wrapping it, and had to admit that it looked like a very fun toy. So Christmas morning, we took it out of the packaging for its maiden voyage, and the launch/transport part cracked as he was setting it up. My son loved it so much that he wanted to keep it anyway, so I agreed to let him play with it a little longer to decide if we would exchange or return it. Within a few minutes, another part of the launcher was also broken. We have had many Matchbox toys, including other Mega Rigs, and have always found them durable and fun. This one was a huge disappointment! Maybe we just got a bad batch? He had enough fun with it that we may still try to exchange it and try again, but for now my review will have to stand as it is.
