I absolutely love this modem/router. I was tired of Charters routers failing all the time at random intervals so I decided to get one of my own. I didn't know there were modem/router combos, and after some research and advice from friends that have knowledge on internet and routers decided on getting this one, and I'm glad I did. Better range with the antennas. Faster speeds. And to this date hasn't failed me yet. I highly recommend it. One less machine taking up space and you save the monthly lease that ISPs charge.
Really good price for a gateway. Set up took about 20 or so minutes and I believe it says set up via your computer is optional to get it going, you WILL need to finish set up on your computer once it is activated through your ISP or at least I had to. Using my phone didn't cut it. Once I did that, my devices started connecting to the internet correctly. My old gateway had poor wifi reception in my 2-story house but this one reaches the whole house! Really strong wifi signal. I've only had it for a week so I'll see how well it works in the months to come but for now at least, I'm very pleased!
working great with easy setup. connecting with Xfinity was a snap, and I'm getting better speeds all the way around. I'm happy with it.
I had no idea what I was doing when I bought this! It was super easy to figure out and hook up!
Bought the NETGEAR AC1200 to replace a Motorola Surfboard for my comcast internet since it finally died after 7 yrs I went to comcast's site to see the approved modems after doing some research I figured I would get the Netgear since i was already using a Netgear wireless router I will say the AC1200 was a pretty much plug and play deal. setup was straight forward ran speed test with the old Motorola modem I would hit 89 to 90 mbs but with the AC1200 it was over 110 mbs on ethernet wireless is 83 to 85 mbs so definitely a plus no cons as of right now after a little over a month so I will see how it holds up I highly recommend the NETGEAR AC1200
I was having signal drop issues with my previous Motorola modem router. Decided to purchase this item and overall very happy with decision, The WiFi coverage range is very good, signal won't drop at all. Design of the device is elegant, almost like plug and play, no hassles in installation. Very happy with Walmart shopping experience. Fast shipping. Great packaging. Prompt delivery. Thank you very much.
I bought this to replace a Comcast modem so I would not have to pay the $14 per month rent they were charging. It is working fine as a replacement for Comcast's modem, but I spent almost an hour on the phone with Comcast tech support to get it to work.
The cable modem router performs well, and setup was as easy as they claimed, no call to Xfinity required. Good speed and distance. ReadyShare allows a disk to be plugged into the USB port and shared with the wifi network among logged in users. Good controls for access and privacy, in a nice gui. Does not include the home phone connectors that are part of the XFi modem/router. Works with Linux as well as windows. So far, very happy with the new router. Not so happy with Walmart online. The site is slow and cumbersome. While they provided tracking and a delivery estimate via Fedex with free shipping, they said my Sunday purchase would arrive on Tuesday, two days later. It didn't arrive until Thursday. Is that 100%wrong or only half right? I'm used to Prime, which generally deliver as estimated. You could argue that it was Fedex's fault, but I got my estimate from Walmart, and had modified my schedule accordingly. Walmart is the only reason I didn't give Netgear the fifth star.
Lots of issues with Xfinity internet service. On the day of installation the modem gave lots of headache. Signal to the modem was fine but there was no connectivity. Called Xfinity and they sent a technician. Luckily, it was a free service call because of the initial service installation. Two weeks later the modem stopped working with the same unknown issues. Called Xfinity to find out that the service would cost $39. Instead, we decided to return this item and pick up another one from the Xfinity store. No issues so far! This modem is being returned!!
got it home, set it up ok, read the instructions but stopped at 6, telling me something about wait for the modem internet light to blink and then turn solid green, but let me ask you this for that light to even turn on you need the internet right? so how come activating your internet service isn't until step 9? how can that light even possibly imagine turning on without first having service? Customer service for netgear was great, but all I asked was how could that be with the light and that led me to a whole nother thing where he wanted me to unplug the coaxial and power so I did than waited the 2 minutes he told me to and went to plug it back in, the coaxial cord would not go back in no matter what, it didn't matter how many times you turned it, it would not catch so I am returning it, better not hear oh well you opened it so you can only exchange it for another one, NO! I do not want another one gave me a freaking headache with this one. I would say if you already have internet set up to where it is working it would be great but if you buy this then try to set up the internet through this, don't bother.
