I bought it as a test run for my teak boat trim and it worked just like brushing and turned out not bad. I will end up getting a quart of it to do the whole boat since the can doesnt cover very much area before it runs out. The wood i was applying it to was very dry which I am sure had a little to do with it.
I purchased this product to use instead of the regular (paint-on) spar urethane since it seemed easier to use and non-yellowing. I used it to varnish gourd birdhouses after I painted them with acrylic paints. It is very easy to use (other than occasionally having to remove the built-up varnish from the spray nozzle) and is clear. I put a birdhouse out 9 days ago as a test before I put several more out in the spring. I followed the application instructions on the can. 9 days later, the paint is bubbled up and peeling where the varnish allowed water to penetrate the paint. It is ruined after 9 days, so now there is no point in putting out the other 10 or so gourds that I have already coated with this varnish. I also put out another test gourd sealed with another brand of regular spar urethane, and it is still okay, so obviously this spray varnish does not seal as expected.
