Cut and fuse 3 3/4" x 5" rectangles. Layer on selected blade and cut. Cut eight cats across the width of fabric. One yard of 40" wide fabric cuts 72 cats. We love our pets and we love to quilt. It just makes sense to pair the two together. The GO! Calico Cat is a whimsical silhouette that makes fun wall hangings, quilts for the animal-lovers in your life, children’s projects or appliques on all sorts of projects. No templates required. The GO! Calico Cat die includes an applique shape that is typically difficult to cut by hand. Quickly and easily cut four of each pre-fused applique shape in one pass thru the cutter (fusible counts as one half layer of fabric). Cut cat shapes out of a variety of fabrics: cotton, batiks, wool, felt, flannel, fleece, Cuddle® fabrics and more! A great way to use up scraps.

The Cheshire Cat die is an asset for individual quilters, as well as for guilds and quilting groups to use to make multiple kits for charity, Safehouse, camp and NICU baby quilts. The image is a classic one yet is versatile and can be combined with soft, more mellow or sharply-contrasting colors to create quilts for people of all ages. The cats also lend themselves well to modern as well as traditional quilt designs. Pull out your cat die, play with fabric and have fun with color. Create the cat through appliqué. The choices really are endless.
I know this might sound strange but I made a quilt for my cat using this die, she was sitting in my sewing room on my half made projects so I decided to make a quilt to put on top of those items for her to sit on rather than my items that were in progress, it turned out so cute I showed it to my sister and she wanted me to make one for her cats so now I have made 2 both for cats :)
Lots of plans for this die. We have a loveseat that has leather arms so I am going to make arm rest covers with the cat appliques on it to keep the cats from scratching the leather. I will also make different items to donate to the local humane society thrift store.
I have two kitties so of course I had to have this die! I love it! It is so fast and easy! I can't wait to make a throw for my granddaughter, who also loves kitties. This would be so time consuming if I had to cut each cat out individually. Thank you, Accuquilt, for the great products!
I bought both the Calico Cat and Gingham Dog dies because I wanted to use them both, along with an embroidery of that old poem about "The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat". Well, after searching for it on the 'Net, and re-reading it, I think I'll just use the cute dies for a children's quilt...the poem is surprisingly violent. I didn't remember that. But the dies are just TOO cute!! And I'm playing with the idea of using different sized circles to make a mouse.
This is darling, I just ordered it and can't wait to get it. I am making a cat quilt and I am going to add some cat applique to it. My daughter and granddaughter and I love cats and this will make darling quilts and all sorts of things. So easy!! I love my GO and these dies!!!!!
I have combined this die shape with the gingham dog and the baby duck and bear to applique on fleece blankets for children. I cut a contrasting animal shape to the color background and applique each on by machine in the corners. Then I add a contrasting band of fleece by just butting the edges together and using a multiple zigzag or stretch stitch to connect them before I zigzag or serge around the outside edges. The variety of colors of fleece make this a fun project.
I’m new to AccuQuilt, but I have been a quilter for years. I am teaching my granddaughter to sew (8) she loves cats! When I saw this die I just had to get it! She can’t wait to make a quilt. She said, “ But Nonnie, can we make a pillow first? They are faster!”
I LOVE this die!! It is so cute to add to baby items! Very easy to applique (which is saying a lot for me, as applique is not my strongest skill!), and then embellish with my embroidery machine. I found the old poem about the "Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat", embroidered the verses and put the verses together with both animals to make a totally adorable baby quilt!! My personal preferences are more towards "classic" patterns and ideas, and Accuquilt makes it easy for me to make quilts and other items that are just perfect!! Thanks again, Accuquilt, for another quality product!!
This is a fun, fun, fun die that is very easy to use and so very versatile. Must have for any cat lover and a great die for those that want to have fun with their quilts, wallhangings, table runners, pillowcases, clothing embellishment and more. Possibilities are endless. Easy to machine applique design and a die that machine embroiderers are starting to digitize designs for, and I soon expect more machine embroidery (ME) designs to be available soon. SewCalGal definitely loves this purrfect die. I just hope they will "also" come out with more cat dies, with cats in vairous positions (e.g. napping, crouching, jumping). Maybe even a cute little mouse to go with this cat too? SewCalGal www.sewcalgal.blogspot.com
