Finally! Smooth cuts, perfect curves, a little notch in the center to line up the pieces, and the blocks nearly made themselves! In fact, the blocks went together so quickly, that I cut out and made a lap quilt in one day! I love these curves! Everything fits together without hills and valleys. And it appears that the design possibilities are endless. Thanks, AccuQuilt - you've helped me conquer my fear of curves!
Prior to the Go! Drunkard's Path I used a template to cut out this pattern. Talk about having to "fudge" some of the seams - whew, one was enough...then I discovered the Go and I'm no longer afraid of curved piecing. It's painless to cut out the block pieces and a breeze to match up the center notch and chain stitch away. Completed blocks in no time - and as mentioned by others, the overall layout/quilt design is endless. Loved it so much that I have both size dies and appreciate how they can be incorporated into the same quilt! Yes, I highly recommend this - even a beginner can be successful with curved piecing!
I bought this die before I I even had the Go. I borrowed a machine and quickly made a modern looking quilt. This block is one of my favorites and being able to cut the pices for a large quilt and construct it with precision is amazing and that is why I now own my own machine!
I have had this die for a long, long time and finally pulled it out to try. The pieces cut perfectly and I was amazed at how easily they sewed together. I didn't use a special foot and the circle and the arc went together perfectly using the notch to line them up
I’ve wanted to make this design for years, but knew my rotary cutting around curves was not up to it. And, piecing would be horrible on poorly cut curves. With this die, I’ve cut a stack in coordinating batiks and sewn my first few. Coming together beautifully,
This die was so easy to use. Each of my fabrics were perfectly cut and were so easy to sew together. It makes such a stunning quilt. I had fabric that I needed to make a charity quilt. It took 15 minutes to cut out the fabric (I think only because it was the first time I had used the GO cutter). Then the I finished sewing the blocks together in less than 45 minutes. The only reason the quilt isn't finished is because I am having so much fun moving all the blocks to get different looks!
I have been reluctant to try my hand with the drunkard's path because of the amount of cutting and sewing curved seams. Oh my! Does the Accuquilt Go die make all the difference in the world. It cuts the matching point for each piece - consistently. And I could cut several at a time - what a time saver. I am so pleased with my first effort with this pattern! Tnank you Accuquilt for making this so easy.
If you have ever wanted to try a Drunkard's Path, this die is great. It saves untold hours of cutting, makes perfect blocks, and creates an easy sewing experience because of the matching notches. I would recommend buying both the 3 1/2" and 7" sizes because you can use them together in the same quilt for even more versatility. These blocks are the exact size blocks that are used in a very popular Drunkard's Path book on the market today. I bought the templates that went with that book but will never use them now because of the Accuquilt dies.
I cut the blocks and passed them out to the members of my friendship group to asemble. It was the first time several of the ladies had sewn curved seams with success. ALL of the blocks came back true and flat. If you've ever sewn with a group, you know how rare that is!
Love this die with it's notches for aligning the pieces. I have the 3 1/2" drunkard path and like that this one is 7" so I can combine two sizes of drunkard paths to create a quilt. Curves are not easy to cut with rotary cutters. This die cuts perfect shapes for a perfect block when sewn together. This is probably a block I would not make if I didn't have the Go cutting system.
