Currently I am in love with my machine. Works great, compact for easy storage, and while the sound is not the most pleasant you can't really expect silence. Depending on your use you may need to invest in additional supplies so be sure to factor their expense into your purchase decision.
I bought this because I was spending way too much money on etsy for my planner stickers. You can create your own with this software and then of course cut them out with the portrait so you dont have to do it by hand! It works great!! Just watch a few tutorials online to get the gist but it isn't too hard to learn! There will be some trial and error but nothing too bad! (Make sure you click to have the registration marks on) and always watch the cut lines! Highly recommend if you buy a lot of stickers on etsy!!
Only received this a few hours ago, so don't know about reliability. The bundle has been out of stock and just became available again. To my surprise, the bundle included a Light Hold Pad which is not listed in addition to all of the other items. I am sure that Walmart will update the list shortly and (I hope not) raise the price. The machine tests out fine cutting out the box for a box card using my drawing. I used 65lb cardstock for the test and used the Light Hold Pad which was more than sticky enough. The blade was set at 4 and there were no cuts on the pad but the cut out portion pulled off nicely. I downloaded the Studio software several days ago in order to practice using it. I also downloaded the User's Manual and went through the specifics in advance. If the software does not recognize the portrait, open Settings-->Silhouette Device and check Scan for Connected Device and apply. I did receive the $25 Software Card. However, it was slipped in under a flap of the shipping container and not included in the Portrait box. Perhaps the bundle has added the Light Hold pad to replace the software card and the software card was an afterthought to meet the specs listed online. Anyway, nice! Have fun!
I specifically purchased a silhouette to make functional/decorative stickers for planning. As many people know purchasing stickers daily can become very expensive. I decided to add this to my Christmas list and luckily I received one. I have been using it at least once a week for about a month now and I am pleased!
I have to say that when I purchase this device I wasn't sure if it was I needed, but it really one of my best purchaces ever! It really does a grest job, making envelopes and vinyl stickers is really easy. It is not a printer, so ig you need to print a card you will need a conventional printer. But you can make beautifull designs with the portrait.
I ordered online and it arrived actually earlier than projected. The package came with several tools and 2 mats. The set up was easy and I have enjoyed it. The price was a real bargain after checking around. And the inclusion of the mats and tools were an added bonus.
This was definitely worth the price from Walmart. I was looking for the Silhouette portrait in a bundle and this was the only bundle that had just what i needed to get started and for the right price! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a silhouette product and the delivery was fast.
It was a little confusing to get started at first. This is dues to the directions from Silhouette though not wal-mart. They aren't thorough enough to me. It took a lot of YouTube and blog searching for easy tricks and tips that go more in depth than the directions that came with the product. I like the feature that you can upload your own images and don't have to only use ones from the silhouette store (like the cricut is).
My Silhouette Portrait machine works great, no issues. There is a learning curve. The more you do, the more you learn. And you will definitely learn from your mistakes. The possibilities are endless, though. Be patient, and keep at it. Customer service is great, so give them a call if you are unsure of how to use your machine.
I returned it. Not sure if I got a dud, but after a couple of letters, it stopped cutting all the way through anything, regardless of the thickness of what I was cutting through or the setting on the blade.
