I was intimidated at first by this machine only because the machine I previously used was threaded differently and I thought it was going to be hard to change to computerized sewing. So I decided to wait until I was not tired to begin the task of learning and change. After reading the information, IT basically threads the same as the others I have used and the bobbin still pulls from the bottom as before. The top threading is different but the pictures and details must be followed for perfect threading of bobbin and sewing. Tip: Notice where the thread is leading from - top or bottom. It is easy and the machine is quiet and runs very smooth. All in all, I have been using it for mending at this point and have not used the other 99 stitches yet. I have 25 years to do that (smiling). The extra tools are located at the bottom from which slides off under the bobbin case. It is a great buy and also has been reduced $19 additional dollars since my purchase. If you are looking for a new machine, its light in weight, smooth and quiet running with no banging metal parts. I noticed that my thread seemed rather loose and that the tension dial was located at the top which keeps you from loose threading and thread waste. I love it and can't wait to make new curtains, pillow cases, rugs, quilts and clothing along with other fun stuff. Additionally, I "registered" my machine with Brother which is very important !! You will need your serial number and model number to do it online or by mail or fax. Happy Sewing!
This sewing machine was fully factory rebuilt, with a warranty. Looks brand new and works beautifully. The cost was less than a fourth of what it would have cost if it were new. I was concerned that with it being computerized it would be difficult to learn to use, but quite the contrary. It is extremely easy to use and works great. I love it. I highly recommend it to anyone...
I bought this machine new several years ago for my daughter at a much higher price. I have used it multiple times. It worked better on button holes than my more expensive machine. When I saw the Brother 100 stitch machine as a factory refurbished machine for such a good price I decided I needed it. I have used it on several projects. It has worked perfectly every time. It looks brand new. You do have to be careful to only use Brother bobbins as they are slightly different than some other plastic bobbins. It makes a difference in your bobbin thread tension. Glad I bought it.
I was a bit intimidated at first with all the bells and whistles this machine has to offer, but after reading the manual and playing with it I soon became familiar with it. I have had a Kenmore machine for over 25 years that I have retired (poor girl). This machine is so light and the self threading needle alone is worth it's weight in gold. I checked the prices of machines elsewhere and this price was fantastic for what it offers. I would recommend this machine to a anyone looking for a sewing machine whether a new sewer or experienced.
I'm a beginner sewer and this machine perfectly meets my needs. It was easy to set up and has worked like a charm. My previous sewing machine was a 50 year old Singer, so, working with a machine that has the option of automatic threading has been a dream come true!
I never sew in my life but this machine is so easy and everything works pretty good. The refurbished thing kinda makes me doubtful about it but for the price I thought I should try. I was so happy I did because I love this thing and I just can't stop sewing since I got it.. u just need to read the manual pretty closely or else u might think it's not working. . I assure 101% of any one who wants to own a sewing machine buy this .. u will not regret it... =)
I bought my sewing machine and then ended up receiving another one so I took this one back. The only reason I did not keep it was because I no longer needed it. I did not even get a chance to open up the box. I wished I would have kept it in case my other sewing machine does not work out. I could not believe the price of this Brother 100 stitch computerized sewing machine. It is usually close to $300.00 so at $89.00 this is an amazing buy!! I still am going to give this sewing machine 5 stars for the price, the amount of stitches, and all of the features that it offers. I have never seen a machine with all of these features for this price. I have read all of the other reviews and it seems like most of the people were satisfied with their sewing machine.
I have to say, I was worried about it being refurbished. I am a beginner and can get frustrated by over complicated devices and even sewing machines, but my husband convinced me that it was a deal I couldn't pass up. So when I got it and started sewing with it, I was so very pleased. It sews straighter than other sewing machines I've tried and is super easy to use. I am a Brother Sewing fan for life.
After reading much of the instructions I proceeded to sew up a Hammock Under Quilt with zero issues. I was amazed at the smooth operation and I tested just about every stitch and found nothing wrong with the machine, whatsoever. The first project I used the machine for was going through several layers of fabric and ribbon and it worked like a champ! I then sewed up several stuff sacks with scraps and played with different stitches while doing so, and it never missed a beat. Can't wait to make more stuff!!
I have been using a Singer for the last 15 years. I received this new machine as a gift from my mother about a month ago, because I am making full costumes for both of us. (It was a guilt gift.) I have to say, my first thought when I started using it was like going from a problematic clunky car to driving a smooth, comfortable Cadillac! I was skeptical at first of the drop-in top loading bobbin, but it has proved to be much easier than the under loading type, and the horizontal spool holder, but I don't notice any difference in functionality. My productivity has dramatically increased as I do not have issues with the machine as much as I did with the last one. Every time I have thought I was having a problem and looked it up in the owner's manual, I discovered it was a very simple USER error. My only cons would be that there is not an arm attachment to help hold up heavy fabrics, but not a deal breaker for me. The reverse stitch button is automatic, which means you don't use the peddle, but I also can't control the speed. It moves at a snails pace. Perhaps there is a way to change that and I haven't found it in the manual yet! Over all, I love, love, love this machine and expect to be using it for years. I'm sure most of the problems I had with the last machine was because it was older and was passed down to me from my mother. I couldn't tell you that it was in its best condition. But even if it was running in perfect condition, the modern updates to this Brother machine still make it my preferred sewing machine. Hope this helps! Happy sewing!
