This machine was a very good deal and it is everything I need right now. I am 83 years old and my old machine (bought in 1961) broke. I didn't feel I wanted to invest a lot money in a new machine but this one has every feature I will need. So glad I bought it.

I bought this sewing machine to make a back cover for my cat's blanket. He loves to pad with his paws. At first I was intimidated since it has been over 30 years since I have sewed anything, but the instructions were SPOT ON! I LOVE this machine and I can't wait to make curtains and pillows and and and well, EVERYTHING! YEAH! :))))))

Simple, smart, smooth, & sleek . . . . . . what more could l ask for. The perfect Mother's Day gift for my daughter. She hadn't been sewing for over 10 years & it was like riding a bike with this Brother. We're both so happy & grateful for this easy to use machine.

Hi All, Total rookie here with a sudden urge to sew. I bought the machine, never used one, wound the bobbin, inserted the bobbin, and threaded the needle on the first try while watching the DVD. I'm also a guy. I think that says something for the instructions and ease of use. The machine seams solid as I have nothing to really compare it to but it seams like a real machine and not a toy. It says 20 stitch - I think there are 20 combinations that can be done with the length and width of either straight or zig zag stitches. There is a light when turned on which is nice. The pedal seams good - slow and fast speeds. It seams like there is plenty of power. With the help of you tube, me and my ls2400 hemmed two pairs of pants. Huge success! I feel like we could take on a bigger project now.

I'm not a seamstress. I bought this machine for craft type projects and mending. Having said that, it is a good basic sewing machine. I was pleased at how easy it was to thread and use. I've only used the basic straight stitch and zigzag so far, but it does have 18 other stitch options that look interesting. I gave it a 4 because it does not run as smoothly as my antique Singer which unfortunately was ruined in a laundry room flood. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, basic machine.

This machine is great for those of us who don't sew often. I probably use my sewing machine about 3 times a year just to repair clothing and other items and had an old machine that had been handed down to me. That machine finally died, so I was looking for a replacement. Wanted something easy to use and not terribly expensive. This machine has worked well for me. Even though the price is inexpensive, it's still a well-built machine. It is very easy to use. It is also easy to set up and is light-weight enough that I can store it in the closet but still pull it out quickly and easily when I need it.

OK the first 6 times i used it it did really good then when i used it for the 7th time it started to make a funny noise and did not want to work right , i threaded it and cleaned it out and come to find out the hook that catches the bobbin thread did not want to hook on to the thread that was on the bobbin and then the needle did not want to go in the hole for the hook can thread the bobbin thread to the needle thread, story short really junk and the timing goes off after it gets used .

I WAS SENT A USED MACHINE WHEN I BOUGHT A NEW ONE!

when i tried to sew, the thread would constantly jam. i don't know how many times i cleaned the machine. for a simple sewing machine i just couldn't understand why. i have a good 60 yrs machine sewing experience. finally a inch and a half piece of yellow thread comes out of the top tension. once i removed it the machine is sewing great now. i never used yellow thread don't have any yellow clothes at all. i'm really upset having someone else machine when i bought a new one. that's probably why they returned it!

Hmmm...where should I start? If you're anything like me, scoping out reviews but only looking at the bar ones? Ha Ha this one should help you...first off, my husband bought this machine for me for Christmas. We got it at the black Friday sale. I thought Brother products were supposed to be good because we have a brother printer! I used it for a few months and now I'm searching out a new machine! 1. It doesn't get through thick layers (it will barely sew through bias tape). 2. It has 2 speeds really slow or really fast. I've never seen a medium. 3. Even with weekly cleaning and oiling, it rattles and is so loud it sounds like a freight train! 4. The past couple weeks I haven't been able to sew with it because the thread breaks, then the bobbin tangles, then the thread breaks again. 5. I've had to adjust the bobbin tension (and you should not really ever have to do that!) I don't know if it's because of continuous, almost daily, use? But even at that it still should be a good little machine. Bottom line... I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, nor would I buy this as a gift for ssomeone!! Junk, Brother, pure junk...

I bought this sewing machine because it was cheap and I thought for what I need it I don't need an expensive one. The bobbins can only been thread half ways because it stops spinning once you are half ways done; and the thread keeps breaking so I went and bought a more expensive thread and loosen the tightens of the machine and it still breaks. I already bought 4 different kind of threads and even watch videos thinking maybe its me. So a 15 minutes project turns into a 30 or 45 minutes of pure frustration
