The Brother 2340CV Coverstitch machine allows you to create a wide range of cover stitches on multiple fabrics. The main difference between a coverstitch machine and a serger is that a coverstitch machine has two needles and makes a double row of stitches. In contrast, the serger has just one needle but uses multiple threads to make an overlock stitch. User: Beginner and expert Condition: New Sewing Machine Type: coverstitch machine This cover stitch features an easy and fast looper threading system to save time. Maximum Sewing Speed (Stitches Per Minute) : 1100 spm The adjustable dial allows you to alter the speed of material flowing through the machine Comes with a presser foot, softcover, tweezers, 4-piece thread net, 4-piece thread spool cap, 4-piece spool mat, 3-piece needle as well as several helpful accessories. I love this coverstitch machine! It's not hard to learn to thread it, especially if you have some serger experience. It does take some practice and watching video tutorials on how to remove the fabric from the machine and tie off the ends properly. But once I got it, I got it! Now, not only are hems faster and easier, my knits look professionally made.
I would totally recommend this machine to anyone considering purchasing a cover stitch machine. Since I don't like changing thread colors in my regular sewing machine I knew I couldn't deal with a serger/cover stitch all in one machine. I decided to buy the Brother 1034D Serger and the 2340 CoverStitch. GREAT DECISION-I Love both. The stretch ability of the cover stitch is absolutely better than using a double-needle on a regular sewing machine.
I have worked in a professional setting with an industrial cover stitch machine. This model compares very favorably to it. It was easy to set up and the first times I've used it, it handled heavier double knit as well as lighter knit with no adjustments. I have also another combo serger/cover stitch machine and now will try to sell it. This machine is also at a great price.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] "I received the Brother Cover Stitch Machine for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product." I love using the Brother Cover Stitch Machine which always help me in creating a variety of cover stitches on different variety of fabrics with different weights. Brother infused advanced technology into this sewing machine and created the flexibility to create constructive and decorative applications, which helped us create amazing stiches and design our expensive fabrics. A built-in color-coded threading guide helped provide precise stitching for a high-quality finish. Also, this cover stitch features an easy and fast looper threading system to save time. Moreover, The adjustable dial allowed me to alter the speed of material flowing through the machine. This machine comes with a blind stitch foot and a gather foot as well as several helpful accessories. I love to use the Brother Cover Stitch Machine everyday and have already stitched so many beautiful dresses for my kids, and they are absolutely delighted to wear it and display it to their friends. I have already recommended this machine to many of my friends and family specially those with small kids, and several of them have already purchased this machine and have stitched beautiful dresses for their kids and the kids are very happy to wear them.
So far my coverstitch is working great! I'm so glad I got it. It's easy to use and runs so smoothly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The looks of this machine I thought it was a serger and I couldn't figure out why it was not cutting the material but it is a cover stitch machine. There are so many different stitches you can do with this that it shows in the book, however it does not tell you what settings you need to put the thread/needle on to get that stitch. The basic 2 stitches that they do give you the setting information worked perfect and looks great. At first I could not get the material out/released and it would knot up under the needles inside the machine. I figured out that if you open the front cover and clip the thread that is in the looper the material will come out. The machine is sturdy and the instructions for threading the machine were very detailed. There are so many options to use this machine on....hems of tshirts, attaching lace, tape and elastic, hemming, belt loops etc. Great machine and can't wait to get some sewing done!
I did not have time to play and try it.
Worst machine ever, it makes me cry on a regular basis. I desperately wish I had returned it when I could have, but I stupidly thought I was the problem and just needed to learn. Ive watched all the videos and read all the articles and even joined a facebook group specifically for owners of this machine where many of them are just as miserable as I am. I just spent 2 hours trying to hem the sleeves on a tshirt. Just the sleeves. I managed to get one done, but this machine chewed holes in the other one so now im deciding if I will have a shirt with holes or remove the sleeve and cut a new one. This is the single most expensive thing I've ever bought myseld and its garbage. I cant get my money back and I don't know what to do with it so I keep trying to to use it and keep suffering through hours of fighting with it and rethreading over and over when I could hem stuff by hand faster and easier.
I've had this machine for about 2.5 years now and it has behaved badly almost every time I use it. Stitches are uneven in a very unpredictable way. At best, it will do a sloppy job of stitching. At worst it will destroy the fabric and not even accomplish the stitching while doing that. I'm not an inexperienced sewer (been doing it for 45 years). This is the most unreliable machine I've ever owned. The very crude manual does not include any trouble-shooting advice. I can't even sell it - my conscience won't let me do that to some unsuspecting stranger.
horrible experience. one rep stated order was late due to accident driver had, 2 days later was told it just had not been shipped. support did not exist really
