I bought this to clean and maintain an antique diamond ring. It was filthy to say the least. Caked on grunge. I placed it in the tank with the plastic basket, and let the machine do its work at the longest time setting. It softened the gunk enough that I could use a stiff brush to work it all out of the crevices. I added two drops of Dawn Detergent to the water (per the instructions), and it cleaned it up pretty well. It looks like new. I was concerned about the diamond chip on the sides, but they were fine. The sonic waves are really gentle. The only complaint? They need to use better glue for the rubber feet.
The Haier Ultrasonic cleaner did a great job in cleaning pieces that had been negelected for a long time. I found that adding a drop or two of dishwashing detergent helped if the pieces were very dirty. Also it helps to run them through twice at the max set time of 480 seconds. It cleaned an old diamond ring nicely. The watch holder works well and allows you to clean only the metal band but I have not yet cleaned a CD using the CD holder. The unit looks good, doesn't take up a lot of space and the basket can hold several pieces. I have not had it long enough to fully rate its durability.
This product works great overall. I use the longest cycle everytime, and I put a couple of drops of Dawn Dish Soap in with the hot water. My rings sparkle! If I had to list a downfall, it would be that the container you add water to is not removable. So, you have to put the whole unit under the faucet to fill it. Oh, and the little rubber pads they put on the bottom for the "feet" didn't stay on. Every single one of them fell off. No big deal, they're really not needed anyway.
I purchased 2 of these, one for me and one as a gift. We have both used them already and just love it! I have cleaned jewelry, glasses, & CD's without any problems. They came out sparkly and you couuld see the funk in the water that it took off the items. It is so easy to use and inexpensive as you only need plain water. I searched everywhere for a cleaner like this and this was the best to clean everything and was the lowest priced on any site. I recommend this product to everyone!!
I bought the ultrasonic cleaner via the online Site To Store method. The first unit I bought ran for exactly 5 minutes after I got it home, no problem. I returned it to the store for a refund and bought another using the same method. I like the fact that it is big enough to hold eye glasses and CDs. I primarily use it to clean coins in my collection. It comes with two racks and one basket to conveniently hold the items to be cleaned. It is almost magical to see the dirty residue disperse into the cleaning fluid. I use distilled water with two drops of dish washing liquid. This unit has ran for literally hours cleaning up the coins, glasses, jewelry and DVD's that had grand kid finger prints all over them and shows no signs of slowing down...
It works as stated easy to use and if item is very dirty a few drops of soap or Jet Dry works great with extra cycles.
Does a beautiful job of cleaning jewelry. Take seconds to clean, and is not to noisy. Great price for a great item.
Great product concept. Failed to deliver. The energy generated from the model does not seem enough to dislodge smudges and dirt from diamond jewelry. Experimented with warm water and soap. Still not enough improvement. When compared to, steam cleaning is superior.
I waited about two weeks for this product to come in, as a gift for someone. When it got here, I tried it out to make sure it worked good. Thank goodness, I did. It didn't clean anything. Coins, that it claims to clean, looked the same. Jewelry, which it claims to clean, still had stuff on them (which i purposely put on there to see if it would come off). CD's, the same thing. I took it back the very night I picked it up.
This product doesn't work. It does a horrible job will silver and barely cleans gold. I ran the machine a few times, but the deep grime wouldn't come off. Did I mention that it does not clean silver, it just smudges the silver tarnish! I've bean using Connoisseurs Gold and Silver Jewelry Cleaner for years and it works beautifully: it cleans and shines in seconds, plus its only $3.50! My dad bought this, but we ended up returning it at the store. It looks very nice, and it's probably durable, but it doesn't get the job done. Good luck!
