After many years of enduring numerous mole tunneling throughout my yard, I decided to take action. I initially reached out to pest control companies, but they were not interested in helping me deal with my dilemma. However, one did happen to mention bait worms (although he did not have personal experience with them.) I decided to give them a try. I viewed several online YouTube videos before I put out my worms. Like others, I was too anxious to give them a try to take time to determine the best locations. Like others, I cut my 10 worms in half, so I could place 20 bait sections. Wearing gloves and using a drumstick to open up tunnels/mounds, I planted my worms into mounds and in open holes (which I then lightly covered with soil.) And then, I waited. Less than 24 hours later, my dog discovered an affected mole above ground in the back yard. My neighbor, who was also being bothered by mole activity, was kind enough to dispatch the mole. We both then watched our respective yards carefully for evidence of new mole activity. It has been two weeks. No new activity! Perhaps it was beginner's luck. Regardless, I am ecstatic to be enjoying a reprieve.
Worked great. But you must put down the product that kills the grubs and insects first. Then put down worms cause the mole will have no choice but to eat the worm. A
We had a horrible mole problem in our yard. We used everything from granules, pellets and even sound and nothing helped. I researched a lot of items before I watched the Tomcat video showing how to determine regular tunnels compared to exploratory ones. I followed the video instructions, put a worm in each tunnel. Two days later I rechecked and no activity in those tunnels. There were a few new ones on the other side of the yard so I followed the same procedure. The moles are GONE! We've been working on this problem for 2 yrs, and within 2 wks. our yard so mole-free.
I started having moles and shrews invading my yard after construction started in a wooded area next to my house. They are easy to use. Simple directions. Has greatly reduced the critters after only a week!
I tried two other kinds of mole traps with no luck. Then I bought three of these tomcat traps. Were a little hard to use at first but once I got the hang of it they work great. I have caught 8 moles in the last two months. Much better than I ever expected. I would recommend this trap to anyone that has moles in their yard.
I fail to understand packaging on two levels. 1) how it can be considered environmentally responsible, given all the "empty space" in the 10-worm carton, and 2) how it can be economical, given all the "empty space" that's shipped with each carton. Tomcat needs more "green people" and more accountants on their payroll!
I have used a lot of Tomcat products and always have their mole worms on my premises. I have stored them in an unheated/no A/C barn for many years, with no problem. I recently purchased 4 boxes of them. All boxes were melted. Very surprised and disappointed. I gave it 2 stars because I'm a frequent user and love the product but not if they're melted.
I have plenty of active mole tunnels so it was no problem putting this in the right spot. The moles would simply put dirt on top of them and go over them. Not one bait out of 6 was nibbled on or eaten or disappeared except that they were buried and ignored. I even captured and earthworm and rubbed some of its secretions on the bait to try to improve its attraction for the mole. That didn't work either. Because of the expense of this product i felt I had to return the unused product to Walmart. Needless to say, returning a partially used package is an uncomfortable transaction and requires explanations that nobody wants to hear and a loss for Walmart. I hope Walmart can get their money from Scotts. Maybe some moles will go for this, but moles in NW Florida do not as far as I can tell from my 4 day experiment. I give up, the moles win! Thank you Walmart for the refund and being understanding about it. I did buy a trap, and this company sells one too which may work, but who likes handling dead varmints...yuk! Wish there was a better way.
Paid a lot of money for 10 worms, but got only one package that wasn't all melted to the bottom of the package in one clump
I have used Tomcat Mole killer worms for over 10 years but starting last fall something has changed. Worms placed in active runways lay there uneaten. To me Tomcat has made some sort of change in the chemical composition of the worms that make them no longer desirable to the moles. I know how to use them, how to find active runways and how to lay the grubs down. I can no longer buy this product--it doesn't work.
