After years of having a much less expensive gazebo with a canopy top that had to be replaced EVERY year; I decided to take the plunge and spend some money on something that would be maintenance free. Before we got it we read all the reviews on the amount of people and time it took to assemble it - I was worried it would never get completely assembled! Here is our story: All the parts were in the boxes, so no complaints there. 1 - Strapping 30 year old male who did most of the work. 1 - 54 year old male with bad knees and a bad back who assisted. And then when it was time to put the top on the legs we recruited a neighbor for about 10 minutes. Total assembly time with the above labor force was about 5 hours. We waited until the top was on the legs before we put the panels on the top. When we lifted the top to put on the legs we rested one of the corners on a ladder, thus eliminating the need for another person. If you have trouble understanding the directions, it may take you longer to assemble. Be sure to use the correctly labeled screws as some screws may work somewhere else but then you won't have the correct size for another step when it comes up. I opted against using the planters as this is on my patio and I have brick planters around the patio. My less expensive gazebo with the cloth top was 10 x 10 and this is 12 x 14 - makes a big difference and I'm so pleased with the size as well.
