I have used twice since purchase. works outstandingly smoking/cooking ribs.
So far so. good. Albert's a/k/a "Bert's" assembly helped immeasureably.
I bought this after reading multiple good reviews. I wanted a simple to use smoker for the family, not a big commercial job, so this one appeared like it would do exactly what I wanted. We've had it approximately 10 days. I think we've used it 7 of those. We've smoked chops, porkloin, ribs, burgers, corn....it does it all with ease and little fuss. It was shipped promptly from Walmart.Com and packaged well, but still managed to acquire a dent on the top right rear- but it doesn't affect the performance and wasn't bad so I didn't complain. My family thinks we should've bought one years ago. The "catch can" is close to useless, though. The runoff seems to run down the right rear leg of my smoker. We have it on a pad, so it doesn't bother us . All in all, probably one of the best values we've bought. I would definitely recommend it, and have, to friends
After years of using old school, wood fed smokers, I was coerced into purchasing the Smoke Hollow electric smoker, and it really rocks. It has plenty of room and racks, solid construction, and legs that keep it off the ground. This is great for seasoned, and novice smokers alike...
My cousin from Indianapolis purchased one then he bought another for my husband as a military retirment gift and we truly live by it. Then another cousin from Atlanta purchased one. After all the hoop and holla about how great it is we then in turn purchased one for one of our extended military family members in Fuquay Varina, NC. It is truly the bomb and the food is extremely tender and well cooked through. Well worth it.
This unit is larger than I anticipated (which is great). It works wonderfully and seems to be well built. Very pleased with our purchase and use it often.
This has been the best investment.. I use it for everything,, besides smoking it can slow cook and roast . Its been a lot of fun. And the yummy smells fill the entire neighborhood..
This was our first electric smoker after using wood for over 25 years. It was very easy to assemble, but the quality was a bit less than expected, but good for the price. We also thought the water and wood chip pans were very small. Our first meal (two roasting hens) cooked very quickly, and the smoker didn't "smoke" like we thought it should. The chicken ended up over cooked and dry. The second attempt was with a pork shoulder. We added another water pan and decreased the amount of wood chips. We added a digital thermometer, and monitored the temperature pretty closely. The shoulder reached optimum temperature in about 5 hours, and the smoke was much better with less chips in the pan at a given time. We cooked the pork another hour and it was very tender and juicy. I think there will be a bit of a learning curve to using electric, but we look forward to being able to smoke year around.
I chose an electric smoker because I am a beginner and its pretty much good once you have your temp. set. I liked the fact that it has a thermometer on the outside door but unfortunately its not accurate and can be off by as much as 30 degrees. Also, the wood chips smoke much better if you use a torch to light them and get them smoking good before you put them in the smoker. I chose to get an electric thermometer that tells you the smoker temp as well as the internal meat temp. That is a must have as well. Overall good smoker for the price.
First smoker came in damaged, Walmart was great on the return. Second smoker had broken parts. Called in to the CS rep for Smoke Hollow, not great! She was very rude, disrespectful, told me I wasn't the only customer needing a part, that there was many customers with broken smokers and that Walmart was breaking there smokers with forklifts. The smokers both were packaged in 2 boxes, that neither of the boxes had a scratch on them. The smoker works great but I wouldn't buy anything from this manufacture again. Smoke Hollow customer service Thumbs Down!
