One of the best smokers for the price. It has a good amount of space. Can do three 10 pound briskets with plenty of room to rotate the meat. keeping temp. is very easy
Used it right away it's awesome I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a smoker it has a lot of cooking space and two thermostats
I love this smoker. I had to do some mods on it but after that this thing smokes like a champ!! 4 thumbs up
I have been wanting to graduate from my vertical water smoker to an offset indirect smoker for some time and whenever I have shopped I always ended up looking at the Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn. Finally I pulled the trigger and bought one. It is heavy duty! Take a strong friend/family member with you to pick it up! Assembly was easy.. again you'll need another person to help. Rather than bolting the two halves of the firebox together then trying to lift it into place, hold it and bolt it to the smoker as per the instructions we bolted the top half of the firebox to the smoker then only had to hold the bottom half in place and bolt it to the top half. MUCH easier! I smoked 25 lbs of brisket for the maiden voyage. Even though I put it on at 3 a.m. and cooked it until 4 p.m. it still wasn't quite as done as I would have liked. Actually this is a good thing... it does cook slow just like it should. Originally planned to cook on Sunday and eat on Monday but weather made us move the picnic up a day so I couldn't just keep going until I was ready. That being said.. It was still VERY GOOD! Lots of reviews complain that it leaks smoke around doors, lids and chimney and some people go to great lengths to ad gaskets and sealants. That's not really necessary. Yes, there are some leaks and you see a bit of smoke escaping... but it's a smoker not a pressure cooker. It's tight enough that you can control the temp with the baffles and there's plenty of smoke for flavor. I stopped in to a local store that specializes in smokers and accessories. They had very similar units for sale. Only difference I could see... and I looked... is that theirs were all welded (had to have shipped assembled) and the Oklahoma Joe's comes disassembled and has to be bolted together. Theirs were also three times the price. In my opinion The Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn is Just Right!
This is my 2nd smoker by far the biggest store brought one! Great for home use or competitions. But I recommend if you do competition cooking with this unit. Go online and get mods to improve the unit.
The fire box has a drawer underneath to catch cinders. The rails that hold the drawer are the thinnest metal on the whole grill. Mine rusted. Can't use the drawer. Manufacturer said this is not a flaw. The rails are designed that way and are functional. So much for there opinion. A replacement fire box is an option. I was told that the same functioning rails are still being used on the new fire boxes. Not willing to spend more money for the same dysfunctional rails.
