I ordered this grill and it appears to be very solidly constructed. It needed some assembly but it was pretty easy to do in about an hour. I am anxious to fire it up but it is 15 degrees outside and there's a foot of snow on the porch. Hopefully I won't have to wait until spring comes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Do not let the size of this rig fool you, it can get the job done. This is the perfect smoker for anyone wanting to get into smoking meat & wants to try their hand at charcoal/wood. The firebox is directly under the smoke chamber, so keeping the rig at temp is easy. Also it has duel dampers on the firebox which makes it simple to regulate airflow. It has a charcoal basket & ash pan which allows your fuel to burn effectively and makes it easy to cleanup. If you're looking for something to store at a vacation property, or take to a tailgating event, or just to cook in your backyard - you will not find an easier unit to start with than this!
I bought this 2 weeks ago and have done 2 sets of ribs, pulled pork and smoked mac n cheese. Took a little bit to get used to using charcoal, but I absolutely love it!
I received this last week and have used it twice over the weekend. Both the chicken and pork I smoked were delicious! I found the smoker very easy to use and clean up was also very easy.
I bought this as a Christmas gift so as yet this Smoker has not been used so cannot give a review. However, I thought I should give a write up to Walmart for their excellent service and delivery of this product.
I was very intimidated to stay smoking food because I didn't know anything about it. After reading some reviews I decided to give this smoker a try and I'm glad this is the one I chose. I've had nothing but success from the first time which was two - 9 pound pork shoulders and three racks of ribs. Since then I've repeated that same amount twice and it just keeps getting better. It was also very easy to put together. I think it took about 15-20 minutes. The only improvement I can think of for this is the wood chip box. After being heated so much it warped a little but just enough to make it difficult to put on the racks that hold it. I suggest widening the tabs that sit in the racks just a half an inch or making the racks come out a little. That would make it much easier to get in. It still works however and I standby my 5 star rating of this product! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Great smoker but needs sealing to stop smoke escaping
This is a good smoker for the $$, but the only issue with this model is the exhaust vent, before you assemble it to the smoker just take a look at it when the vent is closed all the way. The gaps in the exhaust vent are a issue, all the way closed is like 1/4 to 1/3 open. Also there is no water pan, only a wood chip smoker box that rests above the fire. I am enjoying this smoker very much. I do wish it had a bit of a deal on the doors but otherwise great product! A pleasure to use!!
This smoker is relatively well made with some nice features, but has a few design flaws. First, the smoker is narrow. As another person noted, you can't get a rack of ribs on a shelf. You can only get one chicken on a shelf. There is a wider model available, but not for charcoal. Secondly, there is no built-in water tray or bowl to help with moisture. If you want to add something you have to use the bottom shelf which reduces the smoking area to 3 shelves. The biggest criticism is that the charcoal box is relatively small but has to be pulled out at least half way in order to add more charcoal. There is not enough space to reach in above it. I was only able to maintain temperature for around 2 hours without re-loading. Lastly, the feet that it stands on are the same finish as the rest of the grill, With movement for use and storage, these will eventually scratch and rust. Some type of rubber foot would prevent this.
