I have ordered several of these lights...needs little sun to charge...stays lit for 8 hours, others comparably don't stay lit as long. Have it on my balcony..."no electric cost". Best spotlight for the money...yes it is a spot light not really a flood light....sure there are more expensive ones with more leds...but all in all meets my purpose. Walmart kept cost lower than amazon this time. Malibu...good brand.
This light works great. Puts out a very good amount of light and lasts for hrs. Walmart also has the best price I found on this light. Highly recommend!
I had read the negative reviews on this site. I was a bit hesitant about buying these lights so researched them online and found they had really good reviews overall. I bought six of these lights about 2 weeks ago. I have had problems with prowlers and wanted to light the walkways around my house. I live about 200 miles due east of San Fransisco and get relly good sunlight for the solar panels on the lights. They were super easy to install. The first night I put them up I got about 12 hours of blue-white light. Not really bright like a spotlight hooked up to household current, but enough light outside so I could look out my windows and see objects about 20 feet from my house. I can also see well enough to note that no one is lurking around and when I come home can see to use the key in the front door. The second night they were in inuse and every night thereafter I got 15 hours of light from the malibu solar lights. this is actually more than what the enclosed brochure said I would get in my area. My lights come on automatically at dusk, around 5:30 pm and stay on until after dawn, and go off around 7:30 am. We have had quite a bit of snow and rain over the last week and the solar panels have been covered by about 2 inches of snow, but the lights have been as reliable as ever. These little inexpensive solor lights exceeded my expectations and also perform better than the manufacturer lists. The enclosed brochure prepared me to get only 4 to 6 hours of light and I get 15 hours. I just ran out and took the attached photographs of the solar lights in the snow, 0720 hrs, on January 24, 2008, the lights are actually still on and as you can see there is several inches of snow on the lights and attached solar panels. I will be buying more of these lights!
mounted lite on flag pole right under flag while at rest. i love it and so do my neighbors. panel has to be in sun most of the day. works great.
I purchased this item about 3 weeks ago to light up my US flag at night and my house #. I have been very pleased with the light. I leave for work a 4 in the morning and it is still bright enough to light the area that I am lighting. It obviously is not going to be as bright as a corded light, but it is great for what I wanted.
We purchased this spot to use during Christmas, the thought being to have it illuminate the wreath on our front door. Because of the way our house is situated, I wasn't sure if the spotlight would receive enough sunlight to charge the battery. I was pleasantly surprised that even on a cloudy day, it managed to store up enough power to run fairly brightly for a few hours. With at least six or so hours of direct sunlight, it will stay extremely bright for number of hours -- we had one evening where it was still going strong at midnight (almost six hours of darkness!). For the price it is a great value.
It's an okay product if you're needing "minor" lighting in an area. I live in an area without street lighting & thought it might work for the area around my driveway. It's not bright enough for that purpose.
After a recent break-in attempt at my neighbor's house we were both looking for cost effective lighting solutions to make dark side doorways less inviting to the criminal element. I liked the idea of solar lighting to prevent an increase in my power bill and I thought two of these would be just the ticket. Unfortunately, even when fully charged the bluish light is so dim that a neighbor across the street was unable to see me standing directly underneath it after it was mounted 4' above the door. I would rate the light output as somewhat less than a small flashlight and the blue tint just makes it worse. It is by no stretch of the imagination a flood light in the conventional sense. On the plus side, the batteries store enough power that it does illuminate at dusk and stay on until dawn. Based on that I've decided not to return the product but will use it to illuminate steps at the back of my house. It provides just enough light to prevent tripping if exiting the house at night. Until a better solution can be found I'll use a compact flourescent bulb in the lighting fixture at the side of my house to discourage any potential burglars.
Bought it to use to light a flag pole but was too dim to light anything. I've seen brighter lights on a lightning bug. Not at all pleased with this product.
I bought this spotlight to shine on our flag. The light is too dim to even know there is a spotlight anywhere around.
