Let there be Light!!

My wife & I were looking for a security light for the side of our house for a while. We were not looking forward to running electrical & cutting into the siding, etc. When we saw this at sams we felt it was the perfect match. It only took about 10 minutes to install. I will agree it is tough to install on a ladder & the mounting screw hole is not convenient. We hooked ours up yesterday in 40 degree weather.. the light is bright & the sensitivit is excellent... time will tell how well it will hold up... cant beat the price & we plan on buying a second one...

Flood light is the best! I got tired of replacing 300 watt flood lights and the cost. This light was simple to install in about 10 minutes. Sensor works great and light stays on long enough to get into your car or into your home. Yes I will purchase two more to use at two dark areas around my house.

Needed more security but did not have easy access to electricity. Installed the Westinghouse floodlight with motion detector. Surprised at how easy it was to install. I like the idea that this product will run on the sun rather than electricty, plus the fact that we don't have to worry about changing out the bulbs that are constantly burning out on my other light. . When you walk in front of the fixture the lights come on bright and stay on for for time....perfect for lighting your area when you in the space.....perfect for added security where you need it most.

Great light, plenty bright, almost as bright as a pair of 100 watt floods. I have had these lights since sams club first offered them. It has gone thru three NY winters and never a problem.... Easy to set up, a little tricky to install from a ladder, can not get a screw driver straight inline with the screws on the light it self, but with pilot holes not too bad. reading some of the reviews, I had to wonder if they remembered to switch the light out of test. also on the sensitivity, I have one that comes on when someone first enters our driveway, over a 100 feet away, it is set about 20' up. the other lights an area around a shed at 30 feet away and about 10' up and picks up every movement within that 150* arc except for right below the light at about 5 foot out. a second note.. I have also tried Sam's clubs direct competitors version that was $20 cheaper, and it is just what I got, not brite, fewer LEDs, not worth the money.

I bought the light to illuminate my back gate which is very dark and adjacent to dark green belt area. I modified the light by cutting off the proprietary connectors and hardwiring a 30' cord between solar panel and light. The area is covered by trees and 10' would not get the solar panel into the sun. The light seems to be working pretty good. It is not very bright but if any movement is detected back there I will be alerted to the motion. I would say that given the LED's (3 in each light) and the PIR (passive infrared motion detector) this light is priced right. I think you should charge it up outside first....play with it and figure out how it works, then set it up.

i purchased this 2/28/2009 at the clarksville, indiana store. i just now had a chance to put it up. installation was simple until i went to hook the solar panel to the light. i stood there for a long while trying to connect them until i was ticked. i then looked at the plug in, it seemed o.k. but the female end only had one hole, so it wouldn't except the male end. i suggest you look at it before you take it home. i do not live close to a sam's, so i'll have to take it all down and make another trip to return it.

Failed After Three Months

This is one of the most unsatisfactory products that I have purchased in the past few decades. It worked admirably for a short time at my summer cottage. When I closed the cottage for the season, I took it down and carefully packed it away in the garage until the next season. When I took it out again, it was inoperable. This is the third -- and last -- solar motion detector I have purchased. Each one eventually seemed to succumb to cold weather, even if not exposed to the elements. One died in 7 days, another after three months, and a third never worked at all. It is not worth the time and money to purchase them, install them on a tree or the like, remove them when they don't work, and then fiddle with them ad nauseum before you realize that they are more like disposable trinkets than equipment you can rely on.

Difficult to rate since the "solar" flood light did not come with a SOLAR panel. I will be returning the product.

Not real happy

Bought the first light and installed it as per instructions. Had difficulty getting the sensitivity set. I finally got it set and was happy with the light. The seccond night, it started to work whenever it wanted to. One time, I walk in front of it and it worked, a few minutes later, I walked in front of it and it didn't come on. I returned it for another one today and installed it this morning. It seemed to be working fine, but was coming on in the daylight with motion. I left for a few hours and when I returned home the lights were on. I tried to adjust the sensitivity and the time and neither would turn the light off. The only way I could get it off (other than with the switch) was to cover sensor with my hand. I will be returning it tomorrow for one final try....3 strikes and your out! Nice light and plenty bright, just need one to work properly.

Did not WORK. Won't charge. Then the battery compartment would not shut and keep popping open....I was trying to put in back in the box and dropped the "solar screen" and it shattered...now I never got to use nor install it and it is worthless and I am out of $60.00...NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER !!!!!!!
