I purchased my first 2 five years ago to discourage raptors from eating my chihuahuas. They are still going strong today. We are now on a small farm with chickens, ducks, sheep, and goats. We have 2 livestock guardian dogs, but coyotes have been walking our fence line. They even crushed a portion of our fencing in the back (but no tracks inside the fence). Our Pyrenees was determined and did escape the fencing to chase them off and was gone all night. I bought 4 more of these to place 2 on each side and the back of the fencing to keep temptation away from my dogs. I haven’t seen any coyote tracks in the snow along our fence line since. I did see their new tracks, though.... they were 2 houses north of us (roughly 1,000 ft), and walking the same direction—into the back woods. While the dogs still know the coyotes are around, it’s not as desperate a situation as before, so they are calmer.
We have installed the nite guard solar lights around our chicken coops a few months ago. Although we live in the woods with plenty of predatory animals we did not once have a problem with animals trying to get into the coop or houses. The lights work all night and I don't need to do anything, rain or shine they just work. We will get more for our house as well!
A friend recommended these and boy do I wish I had talked to him before I went to the trouble to build an 8' tall fence around our new garden. We put the first set of 4 by some landscape shrubs the deer had almost killed. Three months later the shrubs are thriving. I just ordered twelve more lights (3 sets of 4) for other areas around our house . . . one set to put near the garden so I can expand it without building more fence, one to cover some more landscaping in the back yard and one set on standby for another project or to loan to a doubting neighbor. I do notice the reviews sometimes mention that the lights lose their effectiveness after a few weeks: these were probably written by users that did not read the instructions . . . Move the lights a few yards ever two weeks or so. The deer will get used to them if you don't move them but if you do move them as the instructions say they will work indefinitely.
I bought one a few years ago , had a problem with mice, critters and even birds getting in the workshop when door or window was left open. Mice got in their way. After getting, Nite Guard a lot disappeared . Except the muskrats in the pond. So I started switching it around. Died So, had to order another. The pond is better. Two tone
Purchased a total of 6 units. Daughter in law has sheep on our place. I've seen coyotes using night-vision scope, as close as 15 yds. from the barn. After placing the Nite-Guard units, the 'yotes have stayed at least 200 yds. away, and very skittish, far more than normal. I might not get a shot at them after all.
I bought two of these light to keep Racoons and oOppossums away from my outside cat house on the deck where my three cats live. The smell of food was just too much for the Racoons. I gotta tell ya, at first I thought they were junk, because the first night a young racoon walked right by them and up to the food. But that was way this spring, and to date that has been the only wild animal that has gone in there. It does not bother the cats at all either. I went from from very displeased to very pleaseed now. I would install more if needed. The lights are all automatic. They come on every night and last all night. I haven't had to do anything to them now in at least five months.
So far the Nite Guards (I bought 2 recently) seem to be keeping the wildlife away from our property and especially away from our long-haired dog Our dog has the faulty idea that "Mr. Skunk" is his friend as indicated by our dog being "skunked"twice. in the last several months.
They all worked, unlike the knockoff brand, thought i bought last time
I got this to stop raccoons from gettting my birdfeeder. It works most of the time. The company does say that you would need 4 or more for it to work. I only have 2. For the most part, the coons stay away, but occasionally they come from the sides that don't have the lights. I think that's what's happening.
Read all reviews before I purchased this item. Sounded good. Have serious deer problems destroying young trees. Placed product as suggested (height and location) with no success. In the snow you can see the deer tracks right next to the red blinking lights where they have been browsing and rubbing the tree branches all evening. Back to fencing the trees...
