The light illuminated is very good. The cap where the bulbs get inserted are more durable. The only drawback is trying to get the prongs to pierce the wires and then insert the "lock pin" to keep it in place. The pin seems to stay loose and not be very snug against the wire. The dusk to dawn control box is a good idea since you do not have to adjust the on/off time when the days get shorter or longer and having the prongs on the end of the wire to plug into the control box is good also. Overall it is a very good value and product.
I found them easy to assemble and the updated connection style for the electrical was a big improvement. I replaced my 20 year old set with these. I wish the transformer could handle more lights than 10. I extended the wire and added 2 of my old spotlights to have the max possible of 12 lights. I like the look of these lights. I also added some colored 4W wedge bulbs. The timer is wonderful and doesnt need to be adjusted for any light or time changes.
As a replacement for my Malibu Set, which purely burnt up over a seven year period of Florida sun .... this light set is a very worthy replacement. All that is required is in the box, if you read the instructions, follow them, you easily complete the construction of the nicely designed lights, wire them up and and have 'light'. All that you may need is additional wire if you need to spread them over a greater area. I have no hesitation in recommending them .... they are excellent value for the money.
Do one light at a time. You have to make sure the wire is the same way, and check that the puncture are in the center, and not off center. Once you make sure the light works, assembly and tack down, go to the next one. Also buy extra bulbs, I had blow, you have enough to assemble ten lights.
Easy set up, lots of light and works well for the pathway leading to my front door. However, the cord gets eaten up by the light itself shortening the cord by at least a foot. Thus the lights are closer together than they need to be. The cord should be at least another 10-15 feet longer.
I bought two sets and the lights work great. One problem with the transformer, one worked great the other died on me after 2 days. Unsure of cause, decided I liked one with a timer anyway instead of the photo eye, (dusk to dawn). They work fine now after my new transformer. May not have been a problem with the transformer. WE had some wicked lightning storms here and that may have caused the problem. But I am very happy and pleased with the product. Probably will order another in the near future for the back yard patio.
I have only had these for a short time. Ordering and delivery with 'site to store' pickup went well, as expected. The only problem with this installation (as with others I have tried) is making a solid electrical connection from the light sockets to the wire. There has to be a better way, than trying to force the small connection points into the wire. I had to cut away some of the insulation to get the contact made properly. Also, the top caps for the lights are just placed on. A breeze came up and blew the tops off. I then placed a dab of silicone on them to keep them from disappearing. So far (only a week) everythihg is working satisfactorily.
The lights come on at night for about 30 mins then they shut off when the included transformer heats up! The company sent replacement bulbs but the problem still exist! I believe they should send bigger transformer boxes to hold the 10 lights!
I ordered a set from WalMart online, but item is sent via 3rd party (in this case it was ANTonline.com). Once ordered, there is no way to cancel the order. Once rec'd and you try to return it, you'll find there is a 15% restocking fee, plus you pay return shipping. WalMart is trying to model after Amazon.com, but Amazon will CLEARLY state if restocking fees or return shipping fees are involved; ANTonline has the "fine print" disclaimer that you have to purposely look for to find. I will never order from WalMart online again! This low voltage lighting kit looks great; BUT the transforners will fail 12 - 18 months.
I wanted to buy a set of lights that didnt cost alot. What I got was a set of lights that were JUNK! When I started putting the light together I knew I was in trouble. The wire feeds up through the shaft of the light and has to make contact with two metal barbs from the light. Well sounds like no problem. Thats the start of it....the wire never makes correct contact no matter what you do. So afer about two hours working with one light It worked. The the part that powers the light just quit and no power came out of it. So I sent both sets back. Do not get these lights
