My Featherlite Xtreme Gas Trimmer is just what I need to give my 1.5 acre yard a quick trim after mowing. It is very light and compact, but gets trimming jobs done effectively--even the tall grass and weeds. It is easy to start and simple to operate. I am very satisfied with this tool.
I purchase this product about 3 years ago and it is still running. It is lightweight and works very well. When this one breaks I will buy it again.
Mine just broke after 7 years.Used 2-3 times weekly during season.Great for banks and the like.Easy to handle and great performance.Gonna get another one this weekend.
I purchased this a few weeks ago. I took it out of the box, attached the guard, which is about a 15 second job, and filled the fuel tank. It started almost immediately and is very easy to pull. <br> This is THE best trimmer that you can buy for under $100. It is super light, less than 10 pounds, runs like a dream and cuts through the nastiest weeds. I am very happy with it.
I purchased this product in the fall of 2004 I have used it every year for at least 9 months of the year. I have never had any problems with this product at all. The only thing I had to do was replace the gas line this week. It was a cost of about 4 dollars. I would buy another one. Well I will if this one ever wears out.
This is a good buy. The only assembly needed is to attach the guard with the included bolt and wingnut, and to adjust the handle to your preference. The engine starts easily, and stays running consistently. The bump-feed spool works well. The light weight of the trimmer makes maneuvering easy and not fatiguing. I would recommend a larger trimmer for a property with a lot of brush, but this works fine for cleaning up the grass around flower beds, fences, and the foundation of a house. The engine is not especially noisy for power equpiment, but you should consider using hearing protection.
when purchased in fall, it didn't run as it should i threw it aside. Next spring the wife bought an electric from somewhere else , it made it about 2 months. I called the number on the rear of the weedeater, they hooked me up with an authorized repair shop. They took care of it under warranty in less time than they estimated, even though i no longer had my receipt. has been working wonderfully for some time now. I love it!
I have an earlier version which uses .065 line. I think the .080 is an improvement. The tap and go line is not as easy to use as advertised, otherwise this is a great trimmer. Engine starts and runs fairly easily even at 6200 feet elevation. After nine years, the last two it was stored outside, the primer bulb is leaking. It has run for many hours, even mowed my lawn when the lawn mower was not working. I think if I had taken better care of it, it would be good for several more years. However, all small gas engines are finicky; people without gas engine experience might consider an electric model.
I ordered my Weed Eater online and it arrived on time as stated in the Email. The weed eater was very easy to assemble and then ready to use. I really like the 2 spool feature, it saves a lot of time, especially doing a big yard like mine. I would recommend this weed eater to anyone.
Pros: Inexpensive... but you get what you pay for. When this worked, it did a good job trimming. It was easy to start, and never stalled. The lighweight nature of the product made it easy to manuever and use. The string feed mechanism was reliable and easy to rewind until it melted off the shaft. The engine seemed solide and reliable. I don't know how the engine held together running at the RPMs that this thing ran but it worked great until the rest fell apart. The engine was also clean burning and didn't produce lots of smoke and fumes. Cons: The thing ran at FULL RPM from the very time you started it. There was essentially no throttle control and it just ran as hard as possible from the time it was started to the time it was turned off. This made it so loud that I had to wear ear plugs or my ears would be ringing. I recently left it running after use to run the gas out prior to storage. I came back to check on it a half hour later and the deflector shield and cutting head had gotten so hot that they melted and came off the unit. The end of the shaft was simply grinding against the driveway and sparking as there was no more deflector shield to elevate that part. Who this is for: If you want to pick up a gas trimmer for $60 or less and don't care too much about the quality, this is the one for you. I wouldn't suggest running it more than 10-15 minutes due to the overheating issue. The little motor is amazing in that it doesn't fly apart running at these high speeds. It ran reliably at insane RPMs even after the rest of the unit melted and came undone. This would probably be a good component to cannibalize and use in something else like a model airplane. The rest of the unit seems disposable and might be good for one season if you are lucky. One of my neighbors goes through one each season but I decided to upgrade and go with a Stihl. Suggestion: The addition of a throttle control would be a great idea and shouldn't add much to the cost or complexity of the unit. It would make the unit more pleasant to use and likely last much longer.
