I received my weed eater and when I opened the box I said "not what I expected" but, I put it together in just 5 min. or less. Added the correct mixture of gas and oil (oil provided) and then just followed the simple instructions for starting. Started on the second pull and off I went. I was done with my yard in no time and started on the neighbors. I went until I ran out of gas. This is so easy and a very hard working piece of equipment. My only change is that I am going to get that "permanent cutter" that I've seen on TV.
As a single female, I wanted a weed eater that was light weight, easy to start and dependable. This one was/is perfect. I can work with it for hours and never really tire out too much. I would purchase this one again and completely recommend it to anyone. Very durable and reliable.
I'VE HAD THIS WEED EATER FOR OVER 10 YEARS, AND IT HAS RENDERED THE BEST SERVICE. EASY START, AND I NEVER HAS TO CHANGE PLUG, OR ANYTHING: ITS TUFF, AND DEPENDABLE!!! I FINALLY BROKE THE PULLEY CORD, BUT I'M GOING BACK TO PURCHASE ANOTHER: I'M SOLD ON THIS ONE: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.
Just like another reviewer, mine wouldn't consistently run and would stall out on idle. Now... after 4 years, it wouldn't stay running at all. All it really needs however, is the carburetor adjusted. (IMO.. they should set it a bit more generously at the factory) Anyway, adjusted my carb and it runs better than ever. (You can find videos on how to do this online)
I bought this weed eater to replace a Featherlite Plus that finally died after 15 years of use and this was the closest thing I could find. After assembly, which takes about 5 minutes, I filled it with fuel, followed the starting directions, and it started very easily. I started using it in some very heavy grass and discovered that it did not seem to have as much power as I had expected. It worded fine for light trimming around trees, etc. I removed the .080 line from the spool and replaced it with .065 line and now it works just fine for cutting the heavy grass that it choked on with the heavier line. Satisfied with purchase and product.
Had previous weedeater for over 10 years, so decided to go back with a new one when the time came. On the first use, the air filter cover fell off and I was not able to find it. I had noticed while unpackaging the trimmer that the air filter cover did not snap shut very well. Called customer service and was told they could not send me another cover under warranty, but I could purchase one if desired. No way to that. So, now I have a new weedeater with rubber bands holding on the air filter. Currently has maybe 1 hour of total use. Motor runs good and strong, easy to use and start. Would be very satisfied if they had just agreed to send me a new cover. It's a shame, something that costs them several pennies has soured my taste of the company for the first time in 10 years....
Extremely hard to crank. When it did finally crank, it repeatedly stalled out, Not like earlier excellent featherlite model. Tried cutting with this for 30 minutes. Got disgusted and took it right back to Walmart. Went to next door Lowes and purchased a Troy-bilt.
I would not recommend this product. After purchasing it on May 10, 2011, I used about nine times and then the lower shaft started to get extremely hot. After a couple more frustrating uses where the trimmer would run for a short while and then lock up, I decided that I had enough trouble and went to see what my options were. Walmart's policy is thirty days on return, so I had to send it to an authorized dealer for repair. It is very cheaply made and the two piece shaft constantly wanted to vibrate loose. I had problems with the trimmer from day one but I tried to be patient.
I've bought Weedeater lawnmowers before with no complaints. You get what you pay for. This weedeater however was complete junk. It was poorly built and ran even worse. I'm sorry I paid the $82. for it. Don't waste your money on this product. It should be an embarrassment to the company that made it.
Have had this weed eater less than 8 months. Primer bulb deteriorated so weed eater won't run. Gas was ran out of weed eater when stored for winter. Replacing bulb is not simple or cheap fix. Looks like you have to replace entire carb to get new primer bulb. So I can spend $40 dollars to fix a $70 weed eater. Wish I would have just bought high end model from local mom and pop store.
