I made this purchase after considering what I wanted in a mower, how much maintenance I wanted to deal with etc. and the conveniences I wanted. One being that it is light weight compared to a gas mower, easy to assemble, no gas to store, it mulches as well as has a rear grass catcher bag and best of all it is quieter than the gas mower. As always with electric tools you must be aware of where the cord is at all times. I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend the product to anyone interested in helping the environment and being able to maneuver and mow with ease.
I bought this for my husband who can't push our old gas mower up the hill easily due to a heart condition. At first he was skeptical - afraid he'd run over the cord (which he still might do!) but then he used it and he was sold! He loves that the 4 wheels are so easy to raise and lower, that the machine is so light and quiet and we all love that we don't have to yank continuously on the cord to start the machine like our old one. One switch and you're off! Thanks Black and Decker!
I had always had gas mowers before and struggled to start them. Now that I am older it is impossible for me to start the gas mowers. This is so easy to just plug in and go, and does a great job of cutting the grass.
We are happy with our new lawn mower! We put it together really fast and immediately my husband couldn't wait to take it for a test drive, he ended up mowing the entire front lawn. Some important reminders, look at the pictures shown in booklet so you can understand how to mow properly with the cord. It gets easier with practice! I personally use the mower myself and can say the best benefit I love is NO GAS or other maintenance worries! If you need to re-start mower it's just an easy lever to pull, and it turns right on. Sure the cord can be a pain but for my budget, it works great and I am one happy wife with my new mower!
Assembly was pretty intuitive, did need to check directions for assembly of clipping bag. Mower is a bit heavier than I expected but runs very well. We really got tired of trying to keep the gas mower running. Overall, a good buy. Particularly like the single lever to adjust blade height.
So I've used this twice, take that into account. The good: cuts ok (not great, ok), doesn't require oil/gas/pull to start/as much maintenance as gas engine, doesn't have a battery to die on you. The not so good: I haven't figured out good cord management yet, but putting my cord on a garden hose reel cart made my life easier; my yard has trees so I always have to back up because the cord is wrapped around something; cut is ok, wish it were stronger; have zero faith it will mulch leaves; it is not self propelled (none of the corded ones are. I would still replace my dead gas mower with this, and I still wouldn't buy one with a battery because those die and you may not be able to find a replacement. I'm happy with my purchase but not thrilled. I bought the extended warranty because I think it was totally worth 25 bucks.
The mower itself is a nice mower, does a good job on the lawn and is easy to assemble as well as easy to use. The cord is the only downfall. I have been trying to figure out a pattern to mow that reduces the amount of cord flips I need to do. My lawn is too large for the cordless so I keep reminding myself that I am reducing my carbon footprint and that seems to help when I want to hang myself from the extension cord :)
Very easy to put together, just have to put in a couple of bolts to put the handle on, then just plug it in and mow....
I've only used my new mower a few times, but love it. So much easier to mow through my thick lawn. Very easy to push. I have a small yard, so the bag only filled up half way when I was done.
Height adjuster releases during work. In every few feets I have circle of very short grass. Not nice. Other than that good mulching and easy to maneuver.
