I've had this lawn mower for about 5 years now, I had to have it repaired one time because my son left it out in the rain. Other than that, it starts on the first pull everytime. I have one of the popular name brand mowers, that I paid twice the money for and it's in the back of my shed. As a woman I love this mower, it's not self-propelled so it is work to push, but once it's going it's a great mower. Very satisfied with this purchase.
This is an excellent lawn mower for small to medium sized yards. The package comes pre-assembled. All you need to do is to pour the Engine Oil into the oil compartment, it takes the whole bottle of oil that comes with it. Fill in the gasoline, I put 89 in it. The tank is around 1.5 to 2 litres. It took a few cranks to get started for the first time use. After that it gets started on the first or second push. Overall , a good value purchase.
Out of the box then filling with oil which is included and gasoline it started with just one pull. I was surprised. I mowed my entire yard with ease. It has height adjustments that are easy to adjust. A very light weigt mower. I am very pleased with this lawnmower.
Bought this mower as I was tired of my Black and Decker corded electric mower...Corded mowers are a waste of money and time. Some people should not buy or try to use mechanical devices such as this as they have no idea as to how things work. This mower for the price is an excellent piece of equiptment. People having problems starting it don't quite know how to prime the engine. Does anyone read directions? Do you remove old gas over winter? Do you clean the spark plug after many uses? Simple things like this make the engine happy!! Happy engine=Happy mowing.! I paid $99.99 back in 2005 for the mower and it has been the best little mower. The only thing wrong with it is it doesn't have an iPod hook up for my son!..You wont go wrong with a Briggs&Stratton and any negative reviews are due to the fact that most folks cant figure out mechanics.
Our old mower started leaking oil pretty bad after 5 solid years of service. So we needed a replacement mower fast in order to get our yard cut before the weekend was over. Our lot is a good full acre. So we were stunned and very suprised when this little mower rose to the challenge and got it done in half the time our old mower did. It is extremely light-weight, durable, and surprisingly very fuel efficient. Our other mower typically needed 2 fill-ups to finish mowing our lawn, whereas this one only needed one. My 13-year old loves it. He finds it very easy to push and no struggling with it what-so-ever.
I bought this mower today for $125.00, I did my research on many mowers, an choose this one, I mowed today, Around a half acre with it, Grass was pretty tall here in WV, it did VERY WELL! Didnt power out. Easy to assemble, put fresh oil an 89 octane gas in it, Started up within 4 pulls. GREAT MOWER, GREAT PRICE!
After using the mower 3 times, purchased in last 30-60 days, the spring for the 'gas/throttle' seems to have broken or stretched where engine will not crank. I will re-rate this review when I see what WalMart tells me I should do.
I knew it was a cheap mower, but only need it to mow small areas that are hard to get with my rider. It is no frills for sure. I bought it mainly because it has a Briggs engine, which never gave me problems in the past. But this is a budget Briggs! No frills again, and no throttle adjustment! Just on and off, and it really doesn't seem to want to run. The problem is the carburator and I am going to see it the old one I have in my garage will swap out with it. Add a real carburator and this would be a great mower. As it is, I guess it works for now.
My advice is dont pay this mower..Its a waste if time and $. I brought this moved on 4/29/11 and on 5/17/11 it would not start..i had to take it to a repair shop to get the carboner fixed..it was a simple job and it was under warranty, but im a college student and have to manage my time..I want to buy a mower that wont stop working that soon and will not need to be repaired after a few weeks of purchasing..So next time, I will go to home depot and buy the mower that was 150 like my last mower.. That mower lasted 4 yrs b4 it needed repairs.
I bought this mower less than a year ago because I was in need of a mower quick. I have a small yard and didn't need anything fancy so I thought this would work fine. I wish I hadn't wasted my money and time. My husband mowed the yard once and then he had to take it apart to clean it because it couldn't handle the grass clippings. The next time we mowed, it cut off and wouldn't start again. We ended up paying someone to mow our yard last summer because we couldn't rely on this mower. We put it in the shop this year and after paying $80 to fix it, we got to mow half our yard and the carburetor broke on it. Now it's in the shop again and we are expecting to pay another $40 to get it fixed. The shop said they repair this mower all the time and it's not worth the money. They are right because after paying someone to mow last summer and shop repairs this spring, we could have bought a better quality mower and would not have had all the frustration. Don't waste your money!!Pay a little more for better quality and a better warranty.
