makes quick work of my yard
I thought of giving it only 4 stars because it is very heavy. FYI, I am an 82 year old 129 pd. female. But though it is heavy it is not a deal breaker because it does a superior job. Will do the work in half the time of a smaller one with less power. So in spite of the weight it will take less time to do the work. Also, the instructions were awful. Lets hear it for the reviews on Youtube. You may need help getting the handle on. It takes a lot of strength to push the buttons in. I did it but I had to ask the good lord for strength. lol That being said it does a great job cutting down large weeds. I returned an electric one because the only thing it was good for was cutting grass. I am keeping this one it cuts down every thing and edges great. It has a small wheel that runs along the cement so you don't have to hold the heavy thing up to edge anything. You really need protection for your eyes. A face guard would be nice too. People this thing really moves stuff. It will throw small rocks. I love the thing, have a huge yard, it will cut my work load way down. In one of the reviews someone said that the next smaller size would be just as good. This one is 7.5 amps the next size down was 6. something. If there is a weight difference it would be worth checking out. Heard a great hint on the review. If the wheel spins to the right (counter clock wise) It will throw the grass or rocks in that direction so, you should stand on the left side of the weed eater. Any cars or such on the right be careful or turn around. Thank you review person I didn't know that.
It is super powerful, good size, the string automatically feeds, really great! I have a big lot and lots of trimming to do, this gets it done and then some - strongly recommend. Plus - walmart has the best price for this item, I shopped around.
I'm 75 yrs old light weight was easy to handle
$50 cheaper than Home depot and it was delivered to my door. I always check Walmart 1st for anything.
I use this model for the last 10 years. Very reliable.
Like that you press a button to advance line, although it took me a couple of uses to get use to it. Happy with my purchase.
I recommend this unit for anyone with normal edging/trimming needs. It has great power and easily switches from trimmer to edger and back to trimmer so it won't slow you down.
This model is a Grass Hog 3000 or GH3000. I was replacing my GH1000 which I had about 10 years. This new model has only a single string trimmer whereas the GH1000 had two and was much more efficient in cutting ability which took some time off the chore. The worst feature is the self-feeding feature. It needs work because it unravels line too easily which requires that you stop and correct the issue as the line wraps around the spool. If you need to click the trigger off and on often when working in between garden beds and walls, this releases more line and creates this problem. It weighs about the same as the old model and is ergonomically designed. I wanted to repair my old weed trimmer but the motor is no longer manufactured. I'll just have to adjust to using the new model although it will never be on the same level of proficiency as the old one.
It was sent to me in a box put together backwards! I didn't want to mess with it. This is an electronic equipment. I don't know if I would get electrocuted or not.
