I have a 1/3 acre lot with approximately 500 linear feet of edging and trimming to do. With the adjustable torque set at about 75 percent I am able to complete all my trim work with battery life to spare. I find myself searching for other things to trim. If you arle looking for the power of a gas trimmer it may fall a little short but it is powerful enough for my St. Aug lawn.
OMG!!! This is, by far, the best trimmer I have EVER owned! The power rivals a noisy, heavy, smelly gas trimmer. I love that you can customize the power to the job. I keep mine between 2-3, and it is powerful! The battery life is fantastic- I have a little over an acre, and I can do the whole yard on one charge. If I need to recharge- it is super fast. The first time I used it, I ran out of string very quickly, but I think that was just a fluke, because since I put the new spool in, it has been fine. I can't imagine anyone not loving this trimmer! I sure do- and I am a 5'3" girl!! :)
I like this trimmer. It is definitely powerful. My only complaint is that the box looked like it had been run over by a car before it was delivered. The plastic guard was cracked due to whatever happened to the box and the piece is on back order and won't be sent to me until September.
I have been using a Stihl string trimmer for about 8 years. It was great IF you could ever get it started. Finally, I decided that it just wasn't worth the aggravation. Bought this electric trimmer and have now used it twice. To start it, you push a button and pull the trigger. It starts! Also, it is very light compared to my older trimmer. It does a great job trimming and so far, the automatic string feed seems to work just fine. I have not tried to refill the string yet (that was the other nightmare with the Stihl trimmer).
I finally got something to encourage my husband to trim the yard! I haven't used it myself yet, but he did at least 1/2 hours out there on high speed, getting knee-high grass and some weeds, and it worked great! it has plenty of power and recharges fast. It came to the house before it was expected, made it in time for Father's Day! Sort of payback for all the blenders and vacuums I got on Mother's Day. The kids laughed. Very happy with the ship-to-home service from Walmart, have used it three times now.
This B&D cordless 40V lithium battery string trimmer lasted almost an entire hour after the first charge. I was so excited about the endurance & performance that I continued trimming 3 of my neighbor's yards until my own body ran out of steam! I especially like the power command feature located conveniently on the handle to select optimum speed & power for thick weeds or lower speed for normal growth. I give this product, "My Best Purchase of the Year" award. You won't be disappointed.
I purchased this for $127 at the store. Then purchase another for my father from Walmart.com. It arrived damaged so I returned it. Then when I went to purchase on from the store the same damaged trimmer was on the shelf and for $138. Go figure! Not sure if I will purchase one for a while or until the price goes down and there are undamaged ones on the shelf. Other than that the one I have and use now is spectacular. I don't think I will ever use a gas trimmer again.
Battery allows continuous activity for about 45 minutes. Takes full 90 minutes to recharge. Easy to use, and adjustable for people of different heights. Continuous line feed so no need to bump trimmer on ground or to restring every so often.
I had no problems with it except the battery didn't last very long. To complete my trimming I had to charge the battery 3 times on the first use. Of course I had extra growth due to not having a trimmer for several weeks. On my second use I did complete the trimming on one battery charge. Most of the trimming has been done on the # 1 Setting. Overall it gives me what I expected.
I have had electric and gas powered trimmers over the years. While they preformed well, the gas powered ones balked at starting and the electric had to have a long extension cord or two that always seemed to get tangled or never seemed long enough. I decided to try a new approach with a cordless, gasless trimmer and I am glad I did. No more gas mix, no more extension cords....this trimmer can go any where and is just about as powerful as any of the others. The main disadvantage is that is needs to be recharged after each use and can only be used for a half hour or so. Otherwise, I would recommend it to any one looking for a trimmer.
