I already had the B&D 40V hedge trimmer and this was an easy decision to purchase this trimmer. I have a Gas trimmer but sometimes there are only a couple of spots needing some touch up and I can grab this light weight tool and go. I love the variable speed motor and the easy to adjust handle.
I have two of these, one at each house location. The trimmer works great. It is light weight, relatively quiet and very easy to use. When set on 1 1/2 the speed is adequate and the battery lasts quite a while. I don't have to worry about a gasoline engine that won't start. And by the way the price at Walmart was very reasonable.
Excellent Warranty!!! My previous unit was replaced at no cost by Black and Decker after owning for unit for over 2 years due to the great warranty. Easily can trim my 0.25 acre yard and edge with plenty of battery remaining. Love the adjustable handle and speed control ! Have owned Black and Decker weed trimmers for last 10 years and love them!
Compared to my previous Black+Decker trimmer this one is heftier with adjustable output. It has loads of power and the sturdiness improves performance. I did not need to buy new batteries!
I used this unit for heavy cutting including blackberry vines. I cleared 1 plus acre of heavy weeds in a week. 2 batteries are necessary for 45 to 60 minutes of trimming. The reason I selected this unit is that I have allergies to gas fumes and I have solar for charging. This is not a heavy duty unit and I stripped out the nylon drive gear. B and D is out of stock of the gear. This is a great unit for most use and I am very satisfied with it.
Since I could do all my trimming within 30 min. I had read the reviews and thought, this might be the perfect trimmer for me. After using the B&D max, I was clearly impressed how long the battery did last. And as far as the other review on this site, the trimmer I found had the battery and charger with it. I would strongly recommend this trimmer. My yard is about an acre, and it more than did the job..
Returning item it arrived without a battery and battery charger
the bearings go out too fast.i only had mine for a month!
Box was destroyed, hard to tell if will work as didn't come with battery or charger. Yes, later reading fine print saw that but then you cant just order both of them together, have to buy separately.
The item arrived in satisfactory condition, however, after using it three times in a three week period, it just stopped working. I had 2 new 40V Max Black & Decker Lithium Batteries to work with and those stopped working when the trimmer stopped. **It is important to note that those batteries do work in the alternate 40V MAX Blacker & Decker String Trimmer I have. So it is not a battery problem.
