Works so well that I've actually just purchased a second one. Only time will tell how it lasts. So far it has discouraged the squirrels.
I ordered two of these to replace two plastic ones I had that had just gotten old and yellow. One thing I noticed with these feeders is that when you first fill them up, birds have access to every square inch of the feeder, so the seed goes down quickly! However, as the seed level goes down, it usually takes a day or so for them to totally empty the feeder, and having that little bit still in the feeders keep them coming back! I initially was worried that I would have to fill them more often than my others, but not so! Oh...and I noticed right away that all the nuthatches and finches were immediately drawn to the feeder, while the cardinals had to figure out how to approach it and perch. *lol* Watching some of the birds do "flybys" trying to figure it out was entertaining to say the least! Needless to say, all birds are very happy with the new feeders and so am I. :-)
it is definitely attractive. The openings are, as I suspected, too small for whole shelled peanuts.
