I PUT THIS IN my sink with cold water and with in a few seconds it started getting warm and with in a full minute it was hot. I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. Looking forward to using it this winter..

I will be placing this inside my chicken's 5 gallon water bucket for the winter. I would say it is very important that you read the instructions to avoid electric injury to yourself or your animals. It needs to be plugged directly into an outdoor GFCI outlet, without any extension cords, to be grounded. Let's just say, this unit gets really warm! My girls are going to be very happy with their warm water this winter.

My horse loves to chew on cords and hoses; and this heater has a metal coil surrounding the cord and the heater itself is made of heavy-gauge metal. It performs perfectly keeping his 100-gallon water trough ice free (again, outperforming other, plastic-housed heaters). Wish I'd got this heater years ago!
